Introduction: JPSC 2024

The JPSC Exam is a competitive examination conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission for various administrative and civil service positions in the state of Jharkhand, India.

As of the latest news, the Jharkhand Public Service Commission has announced the dates for the JPSC Combined Civil Services Examination.

The JPSC Exam consists of three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview. The Preliminary Examination is objective and tests the candidates on subjects such as General Studies, General Knowledge, and Jharkhand-specific topics.

Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination are then eligible to appear for the Main Examination, which is subjective and focuses on a wider range of subjects including optional papers chosen by the candidates.

JPSC Eligibility Criteria 2024

The JPSC notification PDF will contain JPSC Eligibility Criteria. All interested candidates have to fulfill all JPSC civil services eligibility requirements to keep their candidatures from being rejected. Verify the JPSC age restriction and the other requirements listed below for qualifying.

JPSC Educational Qualification 2024

A candidate must hold a degree from any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time or possess an equivalent qualification.

Date of Age Calculation

Resolution number 506 dated January 25, 2024, of the Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms, and Official Language states that the calculation of the maximum age for candidates participating in the Combined Defence Services Examination-2023 will be based on the date of August 01, 2017. The minimum age calculation will be based on the date of August 01, 2024. The provision of age limit relaxation until the aforementioned cutoff date will only apply to candidates of all categories for the Combined Defence Services Examination-2023 in Jharkhand.

कार्मिक, प्रशासनिक सुधार तथा राजभाषा विभाग के संकल्प संख्या-506 दिनांक-25.01.2024 के आलोक में संयुक्त असैनिक सेवा प्रतियोगिता परीक्षा-2023 में  सम्मिलित होने वाले अभ्यर्थि यों के लिए अधिकतम उम्र की गणना की तिथि-01.08.2017 एवं न्यूनतम उम्र की गणना की तिथि-01.08.2024 के आधार पर की जाएगी। सभी कोटि के अभियर्थीओ  के लिए आयु सीमा का उपरोक्त कट-ऑफ तिथि के छूट का प्रावधान मात्र झारखण्ड संयुक्त असैनिक सेवा प्रतियाेि गता परीक्षा-2023 के लिए मान्य होंगे।

JPSC Age Limit 2024

There will be a JPSC age relaxation in their upper age restriction, which will be as follows:

(i) A candidate should have completed the minimum age of 21 years. 

(ii) The upper age limit for the unreserved category is 35 years. 

(iii) As per resolution memo no. 29 dated 04.01.2021 of Personnel, Administrative Reforms & Rajbhasha Department, Govt. of Jharkhand, the upper age limit for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) is 35 years. 

(iv) The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable as below.

A candidate who has rendered at least 03 (three) years of regular service under the Government of Jharkhand, shall be granted 5 years relaxation in the upper age limit.

JPSC Number of Attempts

There shall be no limitation on the number of attempts if a candidate is eligible otherwise. 

JPSC Nationality

Only the citizens of India are eligible for the JPSC exam, i.e., the candidates of any other country are not eligible for the JPSC exam.

JPSC Physical Eligibility 2024

The following physical criteria are listed in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission eligibility criteria for the posts of JPSC District Commander, JPSC Probation Officer, JPSC Jail Superintendent, and Deputy Superintendent of Police. Each of these positions has a different Jharkhand Public Service Commission Salary package.

 

For candidates, it is essential to meet the specified physical standards outlined below:

  • There should be no disease related to bones and joints in the body.

  • There should be no history of mental illness or episodes related to the candidate.

  • No active or chronic diseases related to the heart or blood vessels, and blood pressure should be normal.

  • The candidate should not have any physical disabilities.

  • The candidate should not be affected by Claw Hand.

  • The candidate should be free from HIV.

  • Male candidates should have 6/6 vision with or without glasses in each eye, as per the distant vision chart.

  • The candidate should not have color blindness or night blindness.

  • Routine ECG and EEG should be within normal limits.

  • The candidate's hearing capacity should be normal.

  • The candidate should not have diseases like hydrocele, varicocele, or piles.

  • If there is a skin disease that may lead to disability or deformity, the candidacy will be canceled.

JPSC Notification Exam Pattern

Applicants who pass the prelims exam are invited to take the main exam, and those who pass the main exam are invited to the interview, according to the JPSC Notification exam pattern. The merit list is used to choose the final applicants. Below is a list of the JPSC 2023 Exam Pattern for the Mains and Prelims Exams:

PLAN OF EXAMINATION 

1. The Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination comprises two successive stages:- 

(a) Combined Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective Type) for the selection of candidates for the Main (Written) Examination, and 

(b) Combined Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various services and posts. 

Preliminary Examination 

The examination shall comprise two compulsory papers of 200 marks each, namely, General Studies – I and General Studies – II 

(i) All questions of compulsory papers will be of objective type (Multiple Choice Question) and each paper will be of 2 hours duration. 

(ii) The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English 

(iii) A selection list for the Main (Written) Examination shall be prepared based on total marks obtained in both papers. However, the minimum qualifying marks will be as prescribed under Rule 17(i) of The Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023. 

(iv) There shall be a selection list for admission to the Main Examination which shall be prepared in the following manner: 

Candidates will be arranged by the Commission in order of merit. An initial selection list shall first be prepared which shall contain candidates equal to approximately 15 times, the total number of advertised vacancies. The marks obtained by the last candidate shall be considered as the UNR cutoff. 

If the representation of any of the reserved categories (horizontal or vertical) is less than 15 times the advertised vacancies of that category, then the cut-off for the same shall be reduced till adequate representation (15 times the advertised vacancies) is ensured. 

All candidates getting marks equal to their respective category cut-off shall be included in the selection list for admission to the main examination. 

All candidates in the selection list must meet the minimum qualifying standard mentioned in sub-Rule 17(i) of The Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023.

JPSC Main Examination 2023

The Main Examination will consist of a Written Examination and an Interview Test. 

  • The Written Examination will consist of 6 papers as detailed in Para-20 of the Advertisement. 

  • Every paper will be descriptive and last for three hours.

  • There are six required papers in the main competitive exam.

  • The language paper answers should be written by candidates in the written language of their choice.

(ii) The selection list for the Interview Test shall be prepared based on the total marks obtained in Papers – II to VI (5 papers in all) subject to scoring minimum qualifying marks i.e. 30 in Paper – I and minimum qualifying marks in aggregate as prescribed under Rule 17(i) of The Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023, in the remaining 5 papers. 

(iii) There shall be a selection list for the Interview Test which shall be prepared in the following manner: 

Candidates will be arranged by the Commission in order of merit. An initial selection list shall be first prepared which shall contain candidates equal to approx 2.5 times the total number of advertised UNR vacancies. The marks obtained by the last candidate shall be considered as the UNR cutoff. 

Those candidates belonging to reserved categories in the initial selection list who have not taken any benefit/relaxation of being in a reserved category shall be considered UNR candidates for this selection list. 

Reserved category candidates selected against reserved category seats have to be equal to approximately 2.5 times the number of advertised vacancies of the respective category. For this purpose, the cut-off shall be further lowered for each reserved category to include more candidates in the selection list. This shall be in addition to the reserved category candidates selected as UNR candidates in the initial selection list. 

 

All candidates must meet the minimum qualifying standard mentioned in sub-Rule 17(i) The Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023. 

 

(iv) The Commission shall summon the candidates for the Interview, who have obtained such qualifying marks in the written part of the Main Examination as may be fixed by the Commission. However, these qualifying marks will not be less than the minimum qualifying marks prescribed under rule 17(i) of The Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023. 

Provided further that if adequate number of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes/Extremely Backward Classes (Annexure-I)/ Backward Classes (Annexure-II)/Economically Weaker Section (EWS) are not available amongst the candidates to be declared qualified for admission to the Interview Test, the commission shall reduce the cut-off marks for them till an adequate number of candidates belonging to these categories are declared qualified for the Interview Test but the reduced cut off marks shall not be less than the minimum marks mentioned in Rule-17(i) of The Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023. 

(v) The total marks for the Interview Test would be 100 and there shall be no minimum qualifying marks therein. 

(vi) The final merit list will be prepared based on overall marks obtained in the Main (Written Examination) and Interview Test except marks obtained in Paper –I. 

JPSC Selection Process 2024

Candidates are recruited for Group A and B posts in the Jharkhand state government via a competitive exam conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). The Interview is a one-on-one conversation led by a group of professionals.

The panel might evaluate a candidate’s personality, communication abilities, and general fit for the post during the interview. The following is the JPSC exam selection procedure:

JPSC Final Merit List

The final merit list is created based on the marks from the Main Exam and the Interview. The state government of Jharkhand will appoint the applicants who score highest on the merit list to different Group A and Group B posts.

JPSC: How to Apply

Candidates must apply for the exam if they want to take the JPSC exam in 2023. Candidates may get the application via jpsc.gov.in, the official website. Applicants must complete the application form by filling out all the required fields. Applicants should print a copy of the completed application form for their records before sending it in. The following are the steps to apply for JPSC Recruitment 2023:

Step 2: Select the “JPSC Application Form” link on the main page.

Step 3: Select the “New Registration” option and provide basic information.

Step 4: Click “Register” after entering the captcha.

Step 5: Open the “login” page after registering.

Step 6: Fill out all required fields, submit supporting documents, and pay the application fee after logging in.
