BPSC Exam Calendar 2026 Out: 72nd CCE Prelims on 25 October, TRE 4.0 Becomes a Two-Stage Exam

The Bihar Public Service Commission put out a fresh examination calendar on 14 August 2026, and two lines in it will reshape how lakhs of aspirants spend the next three months. The 72nd Integrated CCE Preliminary Test is now listed for 25 October 2026. And TRE 4.0, with its 32,388 vacancies, has quietly moved into the two-stage column.

Add up every row on the calendar and you get 50,825 vacancies across 50 separate recruitments. That single number tells you why this document matters more than any coaching-class rumour doing the rounds on Telegram right now.

Five Things That Actually Changed for You

  1. 72nd CCE Prelims is set for 25 October 2026. The calendar lists the vacancy count as 1,189. If you have been working off the 1,186 figure that most news sites carried, note the difference and treat the commission's own sheet as final.
  2. TRE 4.0 is now under "2 Phase Exams (PT + Mains)". The first three TRE cycles were a single written paper. This one is listed with a Preliminary Test followed by Mains.
  3. No TRE 4.0 exam date exists yet. The remarks column says the PT date will be published only after the advertisement period closes. Any specific September date you have seen is not from this calendar.
  4. 71st CCE Mains result lands in August or September 2026. That window is open right now.
  5. 70th CCE is finished. Its final result was published on 20 June 2026, closing a cycle that ran from December 2024.

3 Phase Exams: Prelims, Mains and Interview

This is the block that carries the civil-services posts. Eleven recruitments sit here, together accounting for 5,244 vacancies.

Look at the 70th CCE row for a moment. Prelims in December 2024, Mains in April 2025, interviews stretching from January to April 2026, final result in June 2026. That is roughly eighteen months from first paper to appointment letter. Plan your finances and your patience accordingly.

TRE 4.0: The Biggest Change on This Sheet

Entry 30 is the one Bihar teaching aspirants should read twice. TRE 4.0 appears with 32,388 vacancies, and it sits under the heading 2 Phase Exams (PT + Mains). Not under single written exam. Not under written plus interview.

The prelims date column reads TBD. The remarks column carries one sentence that settles a lot of arguments: the date of the PT shall be published after the completion of the advertisement period.

Read that plainly. The advertisement has not closed. So no PT date exists. If a website is telling you TRE 4.0 runs from 22 to 27 September 2026, that date is not on the commission's own calendar of 14 August.

My honest read: a two-stage structure changes preparation maths completely. A single qualifying paper rewards broad revision. A prelims-plus-mains structure rewards depth, because the second paper is where the merit list is actually built. If you were preparing for TRE 4.0 as a one-shot objective test, that plan needs revisiting before the advertisement drops.

2 Phase Exams: Prelims and Mains

Only three entries here, but they hold 33,364 vacancies between them. That is 65 percent of everything on the calendar.

1 Phase Exams: Written Only

Eight recruitments, 9,139 vacancies. The Special Teacher line is the one worth circling.

If you cleared the Special Teacher written round, watch that portal reopening closely. Choice-filling windows in Bihar recruitment tend to be short, and missing one costs you a posting preference you cannot get back.

1 Phase Exams: Interview Only

Twelve entries covering 2,738 vacancies, mostly academic and technical posts. Assistant Professor in Specialty Departments of State Medical Colleges leads with 1,711 posts, all TBD, with direction from the department awaited.

  • Assistant Professor, State Medical Colleges (Specialty): 1,711 posts, direction from dept awaited
  • Associate Professor, Science Technology and Technical Education: 455 posts, DV by dept experts

  • Assistant Professor, RTBS Homeopathic Medical College: 13 posts, DV in progress
  • Asst State Forensic Officer: 6 posts, interview January 2027
  • Boiler Inspector: 5 posts, TBD
  • Additional Director cum Assistant State Fire Officer: 4 posts, flagged for insufficient applications

Two fire-service posts carry the note "insufficient applications". For a candidate with the right technical qualification, that is a signal worth acting on. Fewer applicants means a shorter queue.

Which BPSC Exams Are Stuck in Court

Three entries carry judicial remarks, and if you have applied to any of them, no amount of preparation planning will move the date.

RecruitmentVacanciesCourt Position
33rd Bihar Judicial Services173Stay orders from the Supreme Court
Combined Exams for Assistant Engineer1,040Stay orders from the High Court
Judicial and Consumer Commission Members57Direction awaited from the department in light of a Supreme Court order

The 33rd Judicial Services case is the one to watch. Its prelims was held on 30 May 2026 and the result column is blank because of the stay. Candidates in that pool should keep revising rather than assume the process is dead, since stays get vacated and commissions then move fast.

What "Tentative" Actually Means Here

The calendar header carries a line that most aspirants skip: all dates are tentative. BPSC has printed this deliberately, and the 72nd CCE proves why. That prelims was originally scheduled for 26 July 2026 before it shifted to 25 October.

So treat 25 October as a planning anchor, not a guarantee. The date becomes firm only when BPSC issues a separate examination notice with centre allotment details. Until that notice appears, prepare as if the date is real and stay ready for a shift in either direction.

How to Use the Next 70 Days for 72nd CCE

From 14 August to 25 October you have roughly ten weeks. Here is a split that has worked for Prelims-stage candidates in Patna coaching circuits, assuming your NCERT base is already done. If it is not, halve the current-affairs time and put it into fundamentals instead.

  • Weeks 1 to 4: Bihar-specific General Studies. History of Bihar, Bihar geography, state schemes and the state economy. This is where the paper is won, because national GS is crowded ground and Bihar GS is not.
  • Weeks 5 to 7: Polity, Economy and General Science, one full revision cycle each with daily 50-question sets.
  • Weeks 8 to 9: Current affairs from the past twelve months, plus the mathematics component at matriculation and intermediate level.
  • Week 10: Full-length mocks only. Three per week, each followed by a two-hour error review. No new material.

One caveat worth stating plainly. Prelims marks do not enter the final merit list, so treat this stage as a gate to clear, not a score to maximise. Clearing it comfortably and saving energy for Mains beats topping a qualifying paper.

Practise Under Real Conditions

Reading a calendar does not move your rank. Attempt papers do. ExamAtlas carries bilingual BPSC 72nd CCE Prelims mock sets built to the current pattern, with AI analytics that show your topic-wise accuracy and the exact questions where you lost time. Sit one this week and you will know within two hours whether your Bihar GS is actually exam-ready or only feels ready.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the BPSC 72nd CCE Prelims 2026?

The calendar dated 14 August 2026 lists the 72nd Integrated CCE Preliminary Test for 25 October 2026. It was earlier scheduled for 26 July 2026. As with every date on this sheet, it is tentative until BPSC issues a separate examination notice.

How many vacancies are in the BPSC 72nd CCE?

The commission's calendar records 1,189 vacancies for the 72nd Integrated CCE. Several news portals have carried 1,186. Where the two differ, go with the figure printed on the commission's own sheet.

Has the BPSC TRE 4.0 exam date been announced?

No. TRE 4.0 appears with 32,388 vacancies but the PT date reads TBD. The remarks column states that the PT date will be published after the advertisement period completes. Any specific September 2026 date circulating online does not come from this calendar.

Is TRE 4.0 now a two-stage exam?

On this calendar, yes. TRE 4.0 is listed under 2 Phase Exams (PT and Mains), which differs from the earlier TRE cycles. The detailed structure, marks and syllabus will only be confirmed when BPSC releases the official TRE 4.0 advertisement.

When will the BPSC 71st CCE Mains result come out?

The calendar places the 71st CCE Mains result in the August to September 2026 window. The 71st prelims was held on 13 September 2025 for 1,298 vacancies, and the Mains was conducted in April 2026.

Why is the 33rd Bihar Judicial Services exam delayed?

The remarks column records stay orders from the Supreme Court. The prelims was held on 30 May 2026 for 173 vacancies, and the result is pending while that matter remains before the court.

The One Line to Remember

Between now and the end of October, BPSC has to publish a 72nd CCE examination notice, close the TRE 4.0 advertisement, declare the 71st Mains result and respond to two court matters. That is a heavy quarter for one commission, and it means revised calendars are likely rather than possible.

Set a weekly reminder to open bpsc.bihar.gov.in yourself. Do not run your preparation on a screenshot someone forwarded on WhatsApp, because the version circulating in aspirant groups is almost always one revision behind the commission.
