CTET Admit Card 2026: City Slip, Release Timeline and Download Steps

If you applied for CTET September 2026, your exam is now on 12 and 13 December 2026. The 6 September date did not happen, and CBSE has since fixed the new dates. That means the CTET admit card is not out yet, and neither is the city slip.

This page explains what comes first, what each document tells you, how to download it, and what to carry on exam day. Everything here is based on the CBSE public notice dated 14 September 2026 and the CTET September 2026 Information Bulletin. Where CBSE has not announced something, we say so plainly.

What CBSE Has Said About the CTET December 2026 Admit Card

The CBSE public notice dated 14 September 2026 says the 22nd edition of CTET will be held on 12th and 13th December 2026. It then gives a two-step release plan.

• Step 1: Information about the examination city and the date of examination allotted to each candidate will be made available on the CTET portal 15 days before the examination.
• Step 2: The admit card, containing details of the examination centre, will be available for download from the CTET portal two days before the examination.

Counting back from 12 December, the city slip should land somewhere around the end of November. But CBSE has not given an exact date, so treat that as an estimate, not a promise. The admit card should appear roughly two days before your allotted exam date.

CTET City Intimation Slip vs Admit Card

Many candidates call the city slip the "CTET pre admit card". It is useful, but it is not the admit card. Here is the difference.

Simple rule: the slip tells you where and when. The admit card tells you exactly which building, and it is the paper the invigilator checks.

Why the December City Slip Matters More This Time

In most cycles, the city slip is just a travel planning tool. This time it does more. The exam runs over two days, 12 and 13 December, and CBSE has not said which paper is on which day. The notice says the slip will show the date allotted to each candidate.

So the city slip is likely the first document that tells you your own exam date. If you wrote both papers, watch this carefully. Until CBSE says otherwise, keep both days free.

My honest advice: do not book non-refundable tickets or hotel rooms before the slip is out. Two days is a small gap, but it is enough to wreck a plan made on a guess.

Is the Exam City Random? Can You Change It?

Yes, the city is allotted by CBSE. The CBSE notice dated 8 May 2026 made it clear that candidates cannot choose a city, and requests for a change of city are not accepted.

• You may get a city other than your first thought. Plan for it.
• Do not spend time writing change requests. They will not be entertained.
• If the slip shows your city, start checking trains and buses the same day, especially for a December weekend.

How to Download the CTET Admit Card 2026

CBSE has not shared the exact login screen for December yet. The steps below follow the usual flow. The exact login fields will be as shown on the portal, so read the page carefully when it opens.

1. Open the official website ctet.nic.in.
2. On the home page, look for the link for the city intimation slip or the admit card for CTET December 2026. The wording may differ slightly.
3. Enter your application number.
4. Enter your password or date of birth, whichever the portal asks for.
5. Type the security pin shown on the screen.
6. Click submit. Your slip or admit card will open.
7. Download it as a PDF and take at least two clear printouts on A4 paper.

Tip: download it on a laptop or desktop if you can. Mobile browsers sometimes cut the page or save a blank file. Keep a copy in your phone and email too, but remember the phone cannot go inside the exam hall.

What to Check on Your CTET Admit Card

Check the admit card the day you download it. With only two days between release and exam, there is no time for a late surprise.

For reference only: the original 6 September schedule had Paper II from 9:30 AM to 12:00 noon and Paper I from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM, each 2 hours 30 minutes. Those timings are not confirmed for December. Go by your admit card. The paper structure itself is on our exam pattern page.

What to Carry on Exam Day

The bulletin is short and strict on this. Carry only these:

• Admit card downloaded from the CTET website. The bulletin says a candidate without a valid admit card will not be allowed under any circumstances.
• Photo ID proof (original).
• Your own blue or black ball point pen of good quality. The bulletin says the Board will not supply pens.

Pencil use on the OMR sheet is strictly prohibited. The bulletin says OMR sheets filled with pencil will be rejected. Gel pens and ink pens are also not allowed for darkening circles. Eraser and whitener are not permitted on the OMR sheet, and you cannot change an answer once darkened.

Prohibited Items and Behaviour (From the Bulletin)

Appendix II of the CTET September 2026 Information Bulletin lists items you cannot take inside the centre:

• Stationery such as printed or written material, bits of paper, geometry or pencil box, plastic pouch, calculator, scale, writing pad, pen drive, eraser, whitener, log table, electronic pen or scanner, cardboard.
• Communication devices such as mobile phone, Bluetooth, earphones, microphone, pager, health band.
• Any watch or wrist watch, wallet, goggles, handbag, gold or artificial ornaments.
• Anything that could hide a device, such as a camera or Bluetooth gadget.
• Food and beverages inside the hall (drinking water is excluded from this rule). Tea, coffee, cold drinks and snacks are not allowed during exam hours.
• Weapons, scissors or knives.

Behaviour that counts as unfair means includes talking or signalling to others, leaving your allotted seat or room, taking frequent breaks, tearing pages from the test booklet, writing your name or roll number outside the given space on the OMR, pressurising the invigilator, and sharing question content in any form. Smoking, chewing gutka and spitting are banned in the hall.

The bulletin also says biometric authentication may be introduced, so reach early. Other points worth remembering:

• A candidate who arrives after the exam starts will not be allowed to sit.
• Sit only on the seat allotted to your roll number.
• Check that the Test Booklet code matches the code on Side 2 of the OMR sheet. Report any mismatch at once.
• Sign the attendance sheet twice: once after the test starts and again when you hand over the OMR sheet.
• You cannot leave before the full duration ends. Do rough work only in the test booklet, never on the OMR.

Common Problems and How to Fix Them

Use the Waiting Time Well

You now have close to three months before the exam and around two and a half months before the city slip. That is extra time, so do not waste it just refreshing the website. Checking ctet.nic.in once every few days is enough until late November.

Spend the rest on timed practice. If you are writing Paper 1, the CTET Paper 1 test series has 10 free full mocks in Hindi and English; one mock a week till December fits well. Sit it with a pen and a printed OMR-style sheet, so the exam-day routine feels normal.
