The Railway Recruitment Board has started releasing the RRB Group D admit card, also called the e-Call Letter, from 31 July 2026. It is not dropping for everyone on the same day. RRB is issuing it roughly four days before each candidate's own exam date, and since the Computer Based Test runs from 3 August to 21 August 2026, your download window depends entirely on the date printed on your city intimation slip.

This is the single biggest Level-1 recruitment cycle in years, with 22,195 vacancies under CEN 09/2025. Exact CBT dates announced by RRB

The Board's notice dated 3 July 2026 fixed the schedule. The CBT is being held on 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 August 2026 across more than 200 centres nationwide, in three shifts every day.

Work backwards from your date to know when your admit card opens. If your CBT is on 3 August, your e-Call Letter is live from 31 July. If your paper is on 14 August, do not panic in the first week of August, because your link will only activate around 10 August.

Treat this table as a working guide, not a promise. RRB has not published a date-by-date admit card calendar, and the four-day gap is the pattern it followed in CEN 08/2024, whose Group D result for 32,438 vacancies came out on 1 July 2026.

How to download the RRB Group D admit card 2026

1. Open the RRB regional website where you submitted your application, or go straight to the candidate login portal at rrb.digialm.com.
2. Find the latest-updates section and click the e-Call Letter Download link for Level-1 CEN 09/2025.
3. Enter your Registration Number and your Date of Birth or Password.
4. Type the captcha and log in.
5. Check every line on the call letter: your name spelling, photograph, roll number, post applied for, centre address, reporting time and gate closing time.
6. Download the PDF and take at least two colour printouts. One goes into the exam hall, one stays in your bag as backup.

One practical warning. On release day the portal slows down badly because lakhs of candidates hit it together. If the page hangs, try between 11 pm and 6 am instead of refreshing forty times at 10 am.

Anything outside this list is a private website. For downloading a call letter, checking a result or raising an objection, never trust a third-party page asking for your registration number.

Documents you must carry to the exam centre

This is where most avoidable rejections happen. Keep all of it in one transparent folder the night before.

Leave at home: mobile phones, smart watches, bluetooth devices, calculators, books, loose paper, wallets and metal jewellery. Centres are strict and there is usually no cloakroom facility worth relying on.

The Aadhaar rule that catches people out

Aadhaar-linked biometric authentication happens at the gate. If your Aadhaar biometrics are in locked state in the UIDAI system, the scanner will fail and you will be sent to a verification queue that eats your reporting time.

Do two things today. Log in to the UIDAI portal and confirm your biometric lock is off. Then, if you have not already completed Aadhaar authentication for this application, do it at rrbapply.gov.in. It takes four minutes and it removes the one problem you cannot fix on exam morning.

Duration is 90 minutes, extended for eligible PwBD candidates using a scribe. Each correct answer gives 1 mark and each wrong answer costs one third of a mark. Question standard is Class 10 CBSE level.

Reasoning carries the highest weight at 30 marks, which is exactly why it deserves your last four days rather than a fresh Science chapter.

Minimum qualifying marks in the CBT are 40 percent for UR and EWS candidates and 30 percent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. Check the CEN 09/2025 PDF for your exact category figure. Marks are normalised across shifts, so a tough slot does not automatically hurt you.

How many candidates are actually competing

You will see two very different numbers floating around: roughly 58 lakh in some reports and about 87 lakh in others. RRB has not published a confirmed applicant figure for CEN 09/2025.

Our honest read: treat the higher number as your planning assumption. Even at 58 lakh, that is around 260 candidates per vacancy, and accuracy will decide this exam far more than speed. With negative marking at one third, 75 attempts at 90 percent accuracy beats 95 attempts at 70 percent.

Common admit card problems and what to do

• Link not active. Your exam date is probably later in the window. Recheck your city slip date and count back four days.
• Forgot registration number. Use the forgot-credentials option on the same regional RRB portal, with your registered mobile number or email.
• Photo or name printed wrong. Do not edit the PDF. Email the regional RRB immediately using the contact address on that zone's website, and carry supporting ID.
• Centre allotted far away. Change requests are not entertained. Book travel the same day the city slip appears, especially for Patna, Muzaffarpur and Ranchi centres, where seats fill fast.

What to do in the last four days

Stop syllabus expansion now. Your marks between today and exam day come from revision and mock discipline, not new chapters.

• Two full 90-minute mocks in your actual shift slot, so your body clock matches the paper.
• One pass over Physics and Chemistry formulae, plus the standard Biology one-liners.
• Current affairs of the last six months only, with a Railway and Budget focus.
