Good attempts means the number of questions you should be solving with high accuracy, not the number you should be clicking. With 1/3 negative marking, 70 attempts at 75 percent accuracy beats 85 attempts at 60 percent accuracy every time.

General Science (25 questions)

General Awareness and Current Affairs (20 questions)
This is where prepared candidates separate from lucky ones. Current Affairs from 2026 carried real weight in the opening shifts. On the revision window, sources differ: some recommend the last six months, others the last eight to ten months. Given that the exam runs to 25 August, the safer choice is the wider window. About Those "Memory Based Question Papers"
Ten days in, several sites are now publishing full memory-based papers with answers for completed shifts. Two reasons to leave them alone.
First, the legal one. RRB has instructed that questions must not be carried out of the exam hall, and reproducing or circulating exam content falls under the Public Examinations Act 2024. Whoever compiled that paper took a risk, and you do not need to join them.
Second, the practical one. A reconstructed paper is a partial, error-prone memory of one shift out of 48. You will write a different shift with different questions, and the normalisation process exists precisely because shifts are not identical. Time spent memorising someone's recollection of Shift 2 on 5 August is time not spent on a timed full-length paper.
Why Your Raw Score Is Not Your Final Score
The CBT runs across 48 shifts. No two shifts can be identical in difficulty, so RRB applies normalisation before preparing the merit list.
Normalisation adjusts your raw marks against your specific shift's difficulty. A candidate who scored 72 in a genuinely tough evening shift may finish with a higher normalised score than someone who scored 75 in an easier morning shift. You cannot game it and you cannot calculate it precisely in advance.
Practically: stop comparing your raw score with a friend who wrote on a different date. It tells you nothing useful.
Qualifying Marks and the Road After the CBT
Confirm these against your CEN 09/2025 notification PDF, since RRB reserves the right to vary them. Clearing the qualifying percentage is only the entry ticket. Shortlisting for the Physical Efficiency Test happens at roughly three times the category-wise vacancy count, based on normalised CBT scores.
After that: CBT to PET to Document Verification to Medical Examination. The PET is qualifying and adds nothing to the merit list, but failing it ends your candidature. Ex-servicemen, CCAA and PwBD candidates are exempted from PET.
Your Shift Is Still Ahead? You Have Days, Not Weeks

- Revise the wider current affairs window. Six months is the floor, eight to ten months is safer given how far into the schedule your shift falls.
- Time yourself at 90 minutes flat. Not 95, not "roughly an hour and a half". The clock is the real opponent.
- Fix a section order and hold it. There is no sectional timing, so most toppers open with Reasoning, bank 27 or 28 marks in 20 minutes, and buy breathing room for Maths.
- Download your admit card the moment it opens. The e-call letter releases roughly four days before your date, and the city intimation slip about ten days before.

Right After Your Shift Ends
Do not stand outside the centre reconstructing the paper with friends. It is against RRB instructions and it wrecks your confidence for no return.
