Last Updated: 7 October 2026. Marks below are normalised scores as printed in RRB result and cut-off PDFs of the 2024-25 and 2025-26 cycles (CBT-1 is out of 100; CBT-2 and DV figures are as RRB prints them). Rows that come only from coaching-site tables are marked as such.
The RRB NTPC cut off is not one number. RRB publishes it separately for every RRB, every post code and every category, and again at each stage: CBT-1 (for the CBT-2 shortlist), CBT-2 (for typing test or aptitude test) and finally for document verification. That is why two aspirants quoting "the NTPC cut-off" are often talking about different things.
This page puts the real numbers side by side: the 2026 CBT-1 cut-offs for the UG and Graduate exams of the 2025 cycle, the August 2026 CBT-2 cut-offs, and the DV cut-offs of the 2024 cycle. Then we use them to set a realistic target for CEN 06/2026, which has 40% fewer graduate seats.
RRB NTPC Cut Off at a Glance: Latest UG CBT-1 (August 2026)
The latest RRB NTPC cut off is from the UG CBT-1 result of CEN 07/2025 (24 August 2026). For Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, UR cut-offs in most large RRBs fell between 81 and 84 normalised marks, with OBC and EWS about 1 to 3 marks lower and SC/ST lower still.

| Ahmedabad | 75.75 | 71.55 | 71.00 | 67.66 | 60.52 | Coaching-site table |
These are for post code 1, which in the CEN's post order is Commercial cum Ticket Clerk. They are cut-offs for shortlisting to CBT-2, not final selection.
How to Read an RRB NTPC Cut-off PDF
Every RRB uploads a result PDF with roll numbers and, in most cases, a cut-off table. Four things to know before you compare yourself with it:
- Normalised marks: CBT shifts differ in difficulty, so RRB converts raw scores to normalised scores. Its current method (notice of 4 November 2024) is percentile-based: your percentile within your shift is mapped onto the marks of a "base shift". Your normalised score can be a little above or below your raw score.
- Post code, not just RRB: each row is for one post code in that RRB. A single RRB can have five different UR cut-offs in the same result.
- Last selected, not a pass mark: the number is the score of the last candidate shortlisted in that row. One more seat or one fewer moves it.
- Stage matters: a CBT-1 cut-off only gets you into CBT-2. CBT-2 cut-offs decide typing test, aptitude test or DV calls.
Post codes follow the order of posts in each CEN. For the Graduate CEN 06/2025 that order was CCTS (1), Station Master (2), Goods Train Manager (3), JAA (4) and Senior Clerk (5). For the UG CEN 07/2025 it was CCTC (1), Accounts Clerk (2), Junior Clerk (3) and Trains Clerk (4).
RRB NTPC Graduate CBT-1 Cut Off 2026 (CEN 06/2025)
CBT-1 was held from 16 to 27 March 2026 and the result came on 11 June 2026. About 87,300 candidates were shortlisted for CBT-2 against 5,810 posts.

| RRB and post | UR | OBC | EWS | SC | ST | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Prayagraj, CCTS | 86.97 | 85.68 | 85.42 | 80.92 | 78.08 | RRB PDF |

| Ranchi, Senior Clerk | 86.48 | 84.96 | 84.66 | 77.62 | 74.03 | Coaching-site table |
Two patterns stand out. First, the office and CCTS posts had higher cut-offs than Goods Train Manager in the same RRB, because they had far fewer seats. Second, the spread between RRBs is wide: Goods Train Manager UR ran from 70.10 in Muzaffarpur to 82.23 in Ajmer.
A note on Patna: its result PDF exists, but the cut-off table did not extract cleanly enough to assign values to categories, so we have left it out rather than guess. RRB Patna shortlisted only 334 candidates in total, in line with its 23 graduate seats.
RRB NTPC Graduate CBT-2 Cut Off 2026 (CEN 06/2025)
CBT-2 was held on 10 July 2026 and the result came on 27 August 2026. These cut-offs are for shortlisting to the typing test (JAA, Senior Clerk) and the aptitude test (Station Master). They are not final selection cut-offs.

RRB NTPC DV Cut Off: The 2024 Cycle (CEN 05/2024)
The 2024 graduate cycle is the most recent one to reach document verification. These are the CBT-2 based cut-offs for DV for CCTS (post code 1), released in May 2026.

Source: RRB DV result PDFs for CEN 05/2024 (official Patna and Ranchi files checked; others via a results site that links each RRB's PDF). In Bhubaneswar the OBC cut-off is above UR, which happens when OBC seats are few and high scorers fill UR seats first.
2024 CBT-1 cut-offs from official RRB websites
| RRB and post | UR | OBC | EWS | SC | ST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bhopal, CCTS | 77.89 | 73.69 | 73.73 | 67.94 | 63.39 |
| Bhopal, Senior Clerk | 74.45 | 73.01 | 70.67 | 65.88 | 61.29 |

| Chennai, Station Master | 79.89 | 78.85 | 74.30 | 72.16 | 62.19 |
Compare these with the 2026 CBT-1 numbers above. They are not the same RRBs, but across the rows we have, the 2025 cycle's CBT-1 cut-offs for similar posts ran roughly 5 to 10 marks higher than the 2024 cycle's, as seats fell from 8,113 to 5,810.
RRB NTPC Expected Cut Off 2026
CEN 06/2026 has 3,477 graduate seats, 40% fewer than 2025, and CEN 07/2026 has 1,688 UG seats, 45% fewer. RRB has not published any 2026 cut-off yet, so the following is our estimate, built on the trend above.
| Exam and stage | 2025 cycle UR range (large RRBs) | Our 2026 expectation (UR) |
|---|---|---|
| Graduate CBT-1, Goods Train Manager | About 72 to 82 | About 75 to 85 |
| Graduate CBT-1, CCTS and clerk posts | About 82 to 89 | About 84 to 90 |
| UG CBT-1, CCTC | About 81 to 84 | About 82 to 86 |
| CBT-2, typing test shortlist | About 74 to 81 | About 76 to 83 |
Why only a few marks, not ten? Because the CBT-1 shortlist shrinks with seats, but so does the number of serious candidates per RRB, and papers in 2026 were rated easy to moderate. If the 2026 paper turns out harder, normalised cut-offs can even fall. Treat these as planning ranges, not predictions you can bank on.
What Is a Safe Score in RRB NTPC 2026?
Our working targets for a UR candidate, in normalised marks, for RRBs with a large number of seats:
- Graduate CBT-1: 85+ out of 100 keeps you safe for CBT-2 in almost every RRB and post. 80 is borderline for clerk posts in competitive RRBs.
- UG CBT-1: 84+ for CCTC in large RRBs.
- CBT-2 (both): stay at least 3 marks above the row for your RRB and post in the CBT-2 table above; that is the stage where final merit is decided.
For OBC and EWS, subtract about 1 to 3 marks; for SC, about 5 to 8; for ST, about 8 to 12, based on the gaps in the tables above. Mock scores are usually lower than normalised scores in the real exam, so if your mocks are around 75 to 80 consistently, you are in the race.
Why Cut-offs Differ So Much Between RRBs
- Seats per post code: Ranchi had 651 graduate seats in 2025; Patna had 23. A row with 3 seats behaves very differently from one with 300.
- Applicant choice: candidates pick one RRB. Small-seat RRBs attract fewer serious applicants, which is why Muzaffarpur's Goods Train Manager cut-off (70.10) was well below Ajmer's (82.23).
- Post preference: RRB shortlists against your preference order, so the same score can clear one post code and miss another.
- Category vacancy share: a few OBC or EWS seats can push those cut-offs close to, or above, UR.
Choosing your RRB is therefore a strategy decision. Our RRB NTPC vacancy 2026 breakup lists where the 2026 seats are, and the RRB NTPC notification 2026 guide covers the RRB choice for eastern states.
Bihar and Jharkhand: What the Cut-offs Say
Three practical takeaways for aspirants from Bihar and Jharkhand:
- RRB Patna and Muzaffarpur were not the toughest RRBs on cut-off in 2026; they were the smallest on seats. Muzaffarpur's UG CCTC UR cut-off (82.82) was in line with other RRBs, while its graduate GTM cut-off was among the lowest.
- RRB Ranchi had many seats but also high cut-offs for CCTS and clerk posts (UR in the mid to high 80s at CBT-1, as per coaching-site tables).
- For the 2024 cycle's DV stage, Patna's CCTS UR cut-off (83.78) was the highest among the RRBs listed above. With tiny seat counts, one or two strong candidates move the number a lot.
Minimum Qualifying Marks vs RRB NTPC Cut Off
These two are often confused. The minimum qualifying marks are a floor printed in the CEN: in previous CENs, 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC and SC, and 25% for ST, with a 2-mark relaxation possible for PwBD candidates if seats would otherwise go unfilled. Below this floor you are out, whatever the vacancy.
The cut-off is the real competition. In 2026 almost every UR cut-off in the tables above was above 70, nearly double the 40% floor. Clearing the qualifying marks only means your score is counted; it does not mean you are close to selection.
Four Myths About the NTPC Cut-off
- "Bihar RRBs always have the highest cut-off." Not in 2026. Muzaffarpur's graduate GTM cut-off was among the lowest in the country, and its UG CCTC cut-off was about average.
- "The cut-off is decided in advance." No. It is simply the normalised score of the last candidate who fits within the shortlist for that row.
- "Normalisation always cuts your marks." It can go either way. Candidates from tougher shifts often gain a few marks.
- "CBT-1 cut-off decides selection." CBT-1 only shortlists for CBT-2. Final merit comes from CBT-2 (plus the aptitude test for Station Master), with typing tests only qualifying.
How to Use These Cut-offs in Your Preparation
- Pick the row closest to your target: your likely RRB, your preferred post and your category.
- Add 3 marks to it as a buffer for 2026's fewer seats.
- Take a full CBT-1 mock every week and track the gap between your score and that target.
- Work section-wise: General Awareness is 40 marks of CBT-1 and is where most aspirants leave the most marks.
The chapter-wise priorities are in our RRB NTPC syllabus 2026 with section-wise weightage, and past papers in the RRB NTPC previous year papers guide.

RRB NTPC Cut Off: FAQs
What was the RRB NTPC cut off 2026 for CBT-1?
For the UG exam (CEN 07/2025), CCTC UR cut-offs in most large RRBs were about 81 to 84. For the Graduate exam (CEN 06/2025), UR ranged from about 70 (Goods Train Manager, Muzaffarpur) to about 89 (CCTS, Ranchi) depending on RRB and post.
Is the RRB NTPC cut-off the same for all RRBs?
No. RRB publishes separate cut-offs for every RRB, post code and category, at every stage.
What is the expected RRB NTPC cut off 2026?
With 40% fewer graduate seats, expect CBT-1 cut-offs about 2 to 4 marks higher than the 2025 cycle in large RRBs. This is an estimate; no official 2026 cut-off exists yet.
What is a safe score for RRB NTPC CBT-1?
For a UR candidate, about 85 normalised marks out of 100 is safe in most RRBs and posts. OBC and EWS can target about 82 to 84.
Are RRB NTPC cut-off marks normalised?
Yes. Because the CBT runs in many shifts, RRB normalises scores using a percentile-based method before setting cut-offs.
Is there a sectional cut-off in RRB NTPC?
No. There is only an overall minimum qualifying percentage (UR and EWS 40%, OBC and SC 30%, ST 25%) plus the RRB-wise shortlisting cut-off.
Where can I download the RRB NTPC cut-off PDF?
On the website of the RRB you applied to, in the result section for your CEN. The cut-off table is usually on the first or last page of the result PDF.
Final Word on the RRB NTPC Cut Off
The RRB NTPC cut off rewards precision. Know your RRB, your post code and your category, and compare against that row, not against a headline number from a video thumbnail.
And plan for the 2026 squeeze. With seats down sharply, the safest strategy is simple: set your target 3 marks above last cycle's row, and make your mocks prove you can reach it.
