IBPS Clerk Admit Card 2026: Prelims Call Letter Download and Exam Day Guide
The IBPS Clerk Prelims is fixed for 10 and 11 October 2026, and as of the middle of September the prelims call letter has still not appeared on ibps.in. That is normal. IBPS almost never releases the prelims admit card more than ten days before the paper.
What that means for you is simple. The download window is going to open somewhere in the first week of October, it will stay open for a short period, and the site will be slow on day one because 11 lakh-plus candidates will all be logging in at once. This page covers when it drops, how to download it without losing your login, what the call letter actually contains, and the exam-day rules that get people sent home from the centre gate.

IBPS has not published a dated notice for the prelims call letter. Any specific date you see floating on Telegram right now is a guess. Treat the first week of October as the realistic window and check ibps.in yourself.
You will download three different call letters, not one
This confuses first-timers every single cycle. IBPS issues separate call letters for separate events, and they do not all arrive together.
- Pre-Exam Training call letter. Only for candidates from SC, ST, OBC, EWS, minority communities and ex-servicemen who ticked the PET box in the application form. This one comes out first, usually in September, and the training itself is free and optional. Skipping it does not affect your candidature.
- Prelims call letter. The one everybody is waiting for. Carries your centre, date and shift for 10 or 11 October.
- Mains call letter. Issued only to candidates who clear the prelims, usually around two weeks before 27 December.
If a friend tells you their admit card is out and yours is not showing, check which one they are talking about. Nine times out of ten it is the PET letter.
How to download the IBPS Clerk admit card
- Open ibps.in and look at the CRP CSA section on the home page. The link will be labelled something close to "Download of Call Letter for Online Preliminary Examination, CRP Clerical Cadre XVI".
- Click it. You will land on an IBPS-hosted login page, not a third-party site.
- Enter your Registration Number or Roll Number in the first field.
- Enter your Password or Date of Birth in the second field. Date of birth goes in as dd-mm-yy.
- Type the captcha exactly as shown. It is case sensitive.
- Submit. The call letter opens as a PDF in a new tab.
- Download it, then print at least three colour copies on plain A4.
Do not print on both sides of a sheet and do not fold the printout across the photograph. The invigilator has to be able to read the barcode and match your face.
What is printed on the call letter
Read every line the day you download it, not the night before the exam. Errors are fixable in early October and unfixable on 10 October.
- Your name, roll number and registration number
- Photograph and signature as you uploaded them
- Exam centre name with the full address
- Exam date, either 10 or 11 October
- Your shift, along with reporting time and gate closing time
- The photo ID you declared in the application form
- An information handout with the general instructions
The address matters more than people assume. IBPS centres in cities like Patna, Ranchi, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar are often in outer-ring engineering colleges with similar names. Put the exact address into a maps app the moment you download, and if the shift is the 8 am reporting one, do a physical recce a day earlier.
IBPS Clerk Prelims shift timing
The prelims is a 60-minute paper with 100 questions and strict 20-minute sectional locks. IBPS runs it in multiple shifts across the two days. The shift structure below is what IBPS has used in recent clerical cycles.
Treat this table as indicative. IBPS has not published the CRP CSA-XVI shift schedule as a separate notice, and the number of shifts per day can change with candidate volume. The timing printed on your own call letter overrides everything on this page or any other. Gate closing time is absolute. Reach an hour before reporting time, not at reporting time.

What to carry to the exam centre
Your photo ID must carry the same name as your call letter. A candidate whose Aadhaar says "Md. Rahil" and whose call letter says "Mohammad Rahil" will be arguing with a supervisor at the gate. If your ID name differs even slightly, carry a second ID that matches.
What not to carry
No mobile phone, smartwatch, fitness band, Bluetooth device, calculator, wallet, pouch, notes, log tables, or any electronic item. Most centres do not have a cloakroom. Leave it at home or with someone waiting outside. Standard metal jewellery and bulky footwear are also discouraged.
Download problems people actually hit
- Forgot the registration number. The same IBPS login page has a "Click here to retrieve" link. It asks for your name, date of birth and registered email or mobile, and sends the credentials back to the registered contact. Use the same email you used in August.
- Password not working. Use the date of birth field instead, in dd-mm-yy format. If both fail, use the forgot-password route on the same page.
- Page not loading on release day. The IBPS server buckles in the first few hours. Try between 11 PM and 6 AM. The window stays open for several days, so there is no advantage in downloading within the first hour.
- PDF opens but the photo or signature is blank. Open it in a desktop browser rather than a phone PDF viewer, or download and open in Adobe Reader. If it is genuinely blank in the file, email IBPS from your registered email immediately with your registration number.
- Wrong centre city. IBPS allots the centre from the preferences you submitted and it cannot be changed after issue. Plan travel and stay instead of writing appeals.
- Details printed wrong. Contact IBPS through the query form on ibps.in the same day. Do not wait.
Save the PDF to your email, your phone and a cloud drive on the day you download it. Every cycle a few candidates lose the file on 9 October and cannot log in again because the window has closed.
The three weeks between now and the paper
Waiting for the call letter is not a preparation strategy. With the prelims on 10 October, what is left is revision and timing practice, not new chapters. Sectional locks mean a strong Reasoning score cannot rescue a weak English section, so the sensible use of these weeks is full mocks at exam time followed by honest error analysis.

Frequently asked questions
Has the IBPS Clerk 2026 prelims admit card been released?
No. As of mid-September 2026 there is no CRP CSA-XVI prelims call letter link on ibps.in. Based on how IBPS has scheduled clerical call letters in earlier cycles, expect it in the first week of October, roughly seven to ten days before the 10 October paper. IBPS has not announced a date.
What do I need to log in and download it?
Your registration number or roll number, and your password or date of birth entered as dd-mm-yy. Both were generated when you registered in August 2026. If you have lost them, the retrieval link on the same login page will send them to your registered email and mobile.
Can I get the admit card by post or by email?
No. IBPS issues call letters online only. Nothing is couriered and nothing is emailed to you automatically. You have to download and print it yourself.
How many copies should I print?
Three. One for the centre, one spare in your bag, and one kept at home. Print in colour and do not fold across the photograph.
My name on Aadhaar is slightly different from the call letter. Will I be allowed in?
It depends on the supervisor, which is exactly why you should not rely on it. Carry a second photo ID whose name matches the call letter exactly. PAN, Voter ID and Passport all qualify.
Will the admit card tell me my shift?
Yes. The call letter prints your exam date, reporting time, gate closing time and the shift you are assigned. You cannot request a change of shift, date or centre.
What happens if I reach after the gate closing time?
You are not allowed in and there is no second chance. Gate closing is usually 30 minutes before the exam starts. Aim to be outside the centre at least an hour before reporting time, especially for the morning shift.
Is the pre-exam training call letter the same as the prelims admit card?
No. Pre-Exam Training is a separate free session for reserved-category candidates who opted for it in the form, and it has its own call letter issued earlier. Attending or skipping it has no effect on your prelims admit card or your candidature.

Set a reminder for 1 October and check ibps.in yourself every day after that. Do not depend on a Telegram channel to tell you, because a channel that posts the link four hours late is four hours of your download window gone.
One more thing worth doing now rather than in October. Open your August application printout and confirm which photo ID you declared, because that is the one you are expected to carry.
