The BPSC 72nd Combined Competitive Exam will fill 1,186 posts, revised down from the 1,230 announced earlier. Prelims is tentatively set for 25 October 2026 as per the revised exam calendar BPSC released on 14 August. That gives you roughly two months for Prelims and, if you plan smartly, a running start on Mains.

Why 90 Days When Prelims Is 58 Days Away?
Because BPSC punishes candidates who treat Prelims and Mains as separate exams. The gap between the two stages has been short in recent cycles, and aspirants who start Mains answer writing only after the Prelims result usually run out of runway.
So the plan has three phases. Days 1 to 30 build your GS core. Days 31 to 58 are Bihar-special, PYQs and mocks. Days 59 to 90 shift to the Mains bridge: Hindi paper, essay and answer writing. One honest caveat before you start: this plan assumes your NCERTs are at least half done. If you are starting from zero, the same structure works, but drop the optional books entirely and stretch nothing.

The Bihar Special Section

National toppers' booklists skip this, which is exactly why Bihar-domicile candidates who prepare it properly gain 8 to 12 easy marks. Give Bihar GK a fixed 45-minute slot daily in Phase 2, not a weekend binge.
Current Affairs Without Drowning
One monthly magazine plus one daily source is enough. Cover roughly the last 12 months before the exam, with extra weight on Bihar news: new schemes, appointments, sports hosted in the state. What Not to Buy
Skip thick GK encyclopedias as a primary source, coaching modules photocopied from Mukherjee Nagar, and any book promising "guaranteed selection". Your money is better spent on one good mock series.
The 90-Day Plan, Phase by Phase
Phase 1: Day 1 to 30 (Core GS)
Phase 1 is deliberately heavy on Polity and History because together they dominate the GS paper. Keep current affairs ticking at 30 minutes daily; do not let it eat study blocks.
Phase 2: Day 31 to 58 (Bihar Special + Mocks)
From Week 6, practise the five-option OMR discipline in every mock. Decide your attempt policy in mocks, not in the exam hall. Aspirants who first meet Option E on exam day waste 10 minutes on it.
Phase 3: Day 59 to 90 (Mains Bridge)
The week after Prelims, rest for two days, then switch. Start General Hindi practice (grammar and precis carry easy marks), pick your essay themes, and write one GS answer daily from PYQ questions. Thirty days of answer writing before the Mains sprint begins is often the difference between a merit list and a near miss. A Daily Routine That Survives Real Life
Six focused hours beat eleven distracted ones. A working structure: 3 hours in the morning on the main subject, 1 hour of current affairs plus Bihar GK after lunch, 2 hours of PYQ or mock analysis in the evening. Sunday is for the weekly mock and error-log surgery, nothing new.
