IBPS Clerk Apply Online 2026: Application Status, Fee and Step-by-Step Process
Current status. Applications for IBPS Clerk 2026, the CRP CSA-XVI cycle, are closed. The window ran from 1 August to 28 August 2026 after an extension from the original 21 August deadline. The Prelims is on 10 and 11 October 2026 and the Mains on 27 December 2026.

Application fee
The fee is non-refundable and paid online through net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. A failed payment that debits your account usually reverses within a few working days, but the application is only complete when the portal shows a successful transaction and issues a registration number.
How the application works, step by step
- Open ibps.in and find the CRP CSA link on the home page during an active window.
- Click New Registration. Enter name, contact number and email. The portal generates a provisional registration number and password and sends them to both.
- Save those credentials immediately. They are what you use to log in for the call letter months later, and IBPS does not resend them on its own.
- Fill personal details exactly as they appear on your class 10 certificate. Name spelling, father's name and date of birth all have to match your documents.
- Select the state or union territory. One only, and it cannot be changed after submission. This choice carries the local language requirement with it.
- Enter educational details including your degree and the date your final result was declared.
- Set bank preferences in order. This decides provisional allotment later if you are selected on merit.
- Upload the scanned files to the exact specifications below.
- Pay the fee and wait for the confirmation screen.
- Print the system-generated application and keep the e-receipt with it.
Photo, signature and the two uploads people forget
IBPS rejects applications for upload errors every cycle. There are four files, not two.
- Photograph. Recent colour passport-style photo against a light background, face clearly visible, no cap or dark glasses.
- Signature. Signed in black ink on white paper. It must match the signature you will use on exam day, because the invigilator compares them.
- Left thumb impression. In black or blue ink on white paper. This one gets missed most often.
- Handwritten declaration. The exact text IBPS specifies, written by hand in English in running handwriting, not in capital letters. A declaration written in capitals is rejected.
Follow the file format and size limits given in the notification for each of the four. Scan them before you start the form rather than midway, since the session can time out while you hunt for a scanner.
What happens after you submit
The application is not the end of the process, and a few things follow that candidates do not always expect.
- No general correction window. IBPS does not routinely reopen applications for edits, so treat the preview screen as your only chance to catch a mistake. Read it line by line before paying.
- Pre-Exam Training is a separate opt-in. If you ticked it as an SC, ST, OBC, EWS, minority or ex-servicemen candidate, you get a separate call letter for it, normally before the prelims one. It is free, optional, and skipping it changes nothing about your candidature.
- Printing has its own deadline. IBPS keeps the print link open for a while after registration closes, and in this cycle that ran to 12 September 2026. Miss it and you lose easy access to the record of what you submitted.
- Keep the registered email and mobile active. Every credential recovery route runs through them, and you will need one of those routes in October.
Store the printed application, the e-receipt and the four uploaded files together. At document verification you are matching what you claimed in August against what you can prove, and having the August record in front of you makes that a short conversation.
The two choices that decide everything later
State selection
You pick one state or UT, and by picking it you commit to being proficient in that state's official language. Reading, writing and speaking. If you cannot show class 10 or 12 study of it, you sit the Language Proficiency Test after the Mains, and failing it ends your candidature whatever your Mains score.
Choosing a state because its cut-off looked low is the most expensive mistake available in this application. Bank preference
You rank the participating banks in order. If you make the merit list, provisional allotment follows your rank and your preference order together. Ranking a bank you would refuse to join is pointless, because allotment is not a negotiation once it is made.
Eleven public sector banks participate in this cycle: Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab and Sind Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India. Mistakes that cost people the cycle
- Losing the registration number and password. The retrieval link on the IBPS login page sends them to your registered email and mobile, so keep both active until the process ends.
- A declaration written in capital letters. It must be in running handwriting.
- Name mismatch with the photo ID. The name on your application should match the ID you plan to carry on exam day.
- Claiming a category without a valid certificate. Verified later, and a candidate who cannot produce one in the prescribed format is moved to General.
- Assuming payment went through. Only the confirmation screen and the printed application prove it.
- Waiting for the last day. The portal slows badly in the final 48 hours of every cycle.
What to do if you missed this cycle
IBPS runs the CRP CSA process annually, with the notification usually appearing around July or August and the Prelims in the autumn. The gap is long enough to be useful rather than wasted.
Three things worth doing now. Fix the documents that would have slowed you down: a valid category certificate, the non-creamy-layer clause if you are OBC, and a scanned photo, signature, thumb impression and declaration kept ready in a folder.
