BPSC TRE Apply Online 2026: OTR, Form and Documents

The TRE 4.0 application has not opened yet. The original window of 1 to 30 September 2026 was postponed after the exam pattern changed, and BPSC has indicated a restart around 21 September 2026 using the word sambhavna, which means possibility rather than confirmation.

That gap is useful. Almost everything that goes wrong with a BPSC form goes wrong in the first twenty minutes, in the One Time Registration, and you can finish that part before the window opens.

The application runs on two portals

PortalWhat it is for
bpsc.bihar.gov.inAdvertisements, notices, syllabus, results
bpsconline.bihar.gov.inOTR, application form, fee payment, edit window

Fee is Rs 100 per level for all categories, plus Rs 200 biometric charge only if you do not enter Aadhaar details, plus bank charges. Applying for two levels means paying twice.

Step one: One Time Registration

OTR is a single profile that carries across BPSC recruitments. Create it once, use it for every advertisement afterwards. This is also where the most expensive mistakes happen, because several OTR fields lock permanently.

  1. Open bpsconline.bihar.gov.in and choose One Time Registration.
  2. Enter your name exactly as printed on your Matriculation certificate. Not as on Aadhaar, not as you write it.
  3. Enter date of birth exactly as on the Matriculation certificate.
  4. Enter father's name and mother's name as on Matric records.
  5. Enter Aadhaar details to avoid the Rs 200 biometric charge.
  6. Verify mobile number and email through OTP. Use a number you will still hold at exam time.
  7. Upload photo and signature.
  8. Review every field, then submit.

The fields that lock

FieldCan it be changed later
NameNo, locks after OTR submission
Date of birthNo
Father's and mother's nameNo
CategoryNo
GenderBPSC has provided a gender edit facility in OTR
Mobile and emailEditable
AddressEditable
Photo and signatureReplaceable before final submission

A wrong category in OTR is the mistake that ends applications. If you register as General by accident and you hold a valid BC certificate, you do not simply tick a box later. Read the category dropdown twice before you submit.

Step two: DigiLocker linking

BPSC pulls certificates from DigiLocker where they are available, which speeds up verification and reduces upload errors.

  • Create your DigiLocker account with the same mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
  • Pull in Matriculation and Intermediate certificates from the board where issued.
  • Add degree certificates where your university has published them.
  • Keep scanned copies ready anyway, because DigiLocker coverage for older Bihar Board years and for training certificates is uneven.

Do this now. DigiLocker pulls from state boards are slow on the day a large recruitment opens, for obvious reasons.

Photo and signature

The portal enforces file rules at upload and rejects anything outside them, so prepare both files before you start.

  • Recent colour passport style photograph, plain light background, face clearly visible, no cap and no dark glasses.
  • Signature in black ink on plain white paper, scanned, not typed and not a stylus scribble.
  • Both in JPEG. Keep an original high quality copy plus a compressed copy, so you can meet whichever size band the portal enforces.
  • Confirm the exact pixel dimensions and KB limits on the instruction page at bpsconline.bihar.gov.in before uploading, since the portal states them at the time of application.

One practical warning from earlier cycles. A photo taken against a patterned wall or with a shadow across the face gets rejected at verification even after the portal accepts it. Spend Rs 50 at a studio.

Step three: the application form

  1. Log in with your OTR credentials and select Advertisement 14/2026.
  2. Choose your level. Class 1-5, 6-8, 9-10 or 11-12.
  3. Choose your subject for Class 6-8, 9-10 or 11-12. This must match your degree subject.
  4. Enter your TET details: CTET, BTET or STET certificate number, roll number and year.
  5. Fill educational qualifications with marks and passing years.
  6. Claim reservations: category, EWS, women, Divyang, ex-serviceman, freedom fighter descendant.
  7. Claim the 40% Bihar schooling benefit if you passed Matric or Inter from a Bihar institution.
  8. Claim guest teacher weightage with service details, if applicable.
  9. Fill district preferences, up to 38.
  10. Upload documents, pay the fee, download the final PDF.

District preferences deserve real thought

The result is published only for the districts you have selected. Candidates who list three districts near home sometimes find later that their marks cleared a district they never chose.

Unless you have a firm reason to stay in one region, fill the list generously. A posting you can later seek a transfer from beats a selection you never got.

Document checklist

DocumentWhy you need it
Matriculation certificateName, parents' names and date of birth
Intermediate certificate and marksheetQualification and the 40% Bihar rule
Graduation and postgraduation marksheetsSubject eligibility at Class 6-12
D.El.Ed, B.Ed or equivalentTeacher training requirement
CTET, BTET or STET certificateLevel eligibility
Caste certificate, Bihar formatCategory reservation
EWS certificate, current financial yearEWS reservation
Bihar domicile or residence certificateWomen quota, 32% slab, state reservation
Disability certificateDivyang reservation and age relaxation
Guest teacher service certificateWeightage of 5 marks per year, up to 25
AadhaarAvoiding the Rs 200 biometric charge
Photo and signature scansUpload

Check two things today rather than on the last day. Whether your caste certificate is in the Bihar format, since certificates in the central format are not accepted for state reservation, and whether your EWS certificate has expired, since it lapses at the end of the financial year.

Confirm the level you are filling against the eligibility check karein page before paying, and keep notification aur dates open for the reissue. The same page carries fee aur vacancy in full, and the BPSC TRE complete guide ties the cluster together.

What to do in the edit window

BPSC usually opens a short correction window after applications close. Treat it as a safety net for small errors, not as a second chance at the form.

Usually correctableUsually not correctable
Address and contact detailsName, date of birth, parents' names
Minor spelling in qualification entriesCategory claimed in OTR
Photo or signature that failed quality checksLevel applied for, once fee is paid
District preference order, where permittedSubject chosen against your degree

The exact scope of each edit window is announced with the window itself, so read that notice rather than assuming what worked in TRE 3.0 will work again. What has been consistent across cycles is that the fields locked at OTR stay locked, edit window or not.

Keep the final PDF, the fee receipt and the transaction reference in one folder, along with a screenshot of the confirmation page. If the portal shows a payment as pending while your bank shows it as debited, that folder is what resolves it.

Mistakes that cost candidates the form

  • Filling the name as on Aadhaar rather than on the Matric certificate.
  • Selecting the wrong category in OTR and discovering it is locked.
  • Applying for a level whose TET paper you do not hold.
  • Choosing a subject that does not match the degree subject at Class 9-12.
  • Paying on the last day, when the payment gateway is slowest and a failed transaction can take days to reverse.
  • Skipping the final PDF download, which is your only proof if a server issue is disputed.

Frequently asked questions

When will the BPSC TRE 4.0 online form start?

It has not started. The 1 to 30 September 2026 window was postponed after the single stage announcement. BPSC has indicated a likely restart around 21 September 2026, described as a possibility rather than a confirmed date.

Where do I apply for BPSC TRE 4.0?

At bpsconline.bihar.gov.in. Advertisements and notices are published separately at bpsc.bihar.gov.in.

What is OTR in BPSC?

One Time Registration, a single profile used across all BPSC recruitments. Name, date of birth, parents' names and category lock after submission, so check them carefully before you submit.

Can I change my category after OTR?

No. Category is one of the locked fields. BPSC has separately provided a facility to edit gender in OTR.

How much is the BPSC TRE 4.0 application fee?

Rs 100 per level for every category, plus Rs 200 biometric charge if Aadhaar details are not entered, plus bank charges. The Rs 750 figure circulating online is from TRE 3.0.

How many districts can I select?

Up to 38. The result is published only for the districts you choose, so a short list can cost you a selection.

Do I need DigiLocker to apply?

It is used to fetch certificates and speeds up the process, but keep scanned copies ready as well, since coverage for older Bihar Board years and training certificates is patchy.

Can I apply for more than one level?

Yes, if you meet the TET and qualification requirement for each, and you pay Rs 100 for each level separately.

Final word

The form is not difficult. It is unforgiving. Nothing in it requires skill, and almost everything in it requires that you match a certificate exactly.

Finish your OTR, DigiLocker and document scans this week. Then the only thing left when the window opens is choosing your level, your subject and your 38 districts, which is a twenty minute job rather than a panicked evening.
