All 21 Railway Recruitment Boards have published the CEN 07/2025 NTPC Undergraduate CBT 1 result, every zone has uploaded its cut-off PDF, and individual scorecards have been open since 26 August at 5:00 PM. Here is the number that decides everything else on this page: 45,998 candidates have been shortlisted for CBT 2 against 3,058 vacancies. CBT 2 is fixed for 17 September 2026, which leaves 19 days from today. Below you get the complete 21-zone tracker, the official zone-wise and category-wise cut-off marks released so far, and an honest reading of what those numbers mean for your CBT 2 target.

There is no single national PDF for this recruitment. Each board publishes its own shortlist of roll numbers plus a cut-off file, and a few boards merged the two into one document. The links below open the official PDF on the Railway Recruitment Board server directly, so you land on the file itself instead of hunting through a homepage.
If a direct link does not open: RRB regenerates these file paths every time it re-uploads a document, so a link can go stale without notice. Use the Zone Website column in that case, open Results or Latest Notifications, and look for the notice titled "CEN 07/2025 NTPC (UG) Result of 1st Stage CBT and shortlisting of candidates for 2nd Stage CBT". Both files sit inside that single notice.
Scorecard login: the marks link is common across zones and opens through the RRB candidate login on the Digialm portal. Use your registration number and date of birth. Every zone site also carries the same link inside the result notice, so if one path is slow, use the other.
Download the result, cut-off and scorecard only from these official sites. The PDFs floating on Telegram and WhatsApp are private re-uploads. At document verification, only the copy that traces back to your RRB will stand.
45,998 Shortlisted: What That Number Actually Tells You
Roughly 63.27 lakh candidates registered for this cycle and close to 50 lakh sat the exam. Against that, 45,998 have moved to CBT 2. So under 1 in 100 candidates who wrote CBT 1 is still in the race.
The more useful ratio is the one against vacancies. With 3,058 posts and 45,998 shortlisted, RRB has called about 15 candidates per post into CBT 2.
Compare that with the previous undergraduate cycle. Under CEN 06/2024, RRB shortlisted 20,887 candidates for 3,445 vacancies when that result came out in November 2025, a ratio close to 6 per post. This cycle has fewer posts and more than double the shortlist.
What follows from that is worth sitting with. A wider shortlist means CBT 2 is doing more of the filtering than it did last time. Clearing CBT 1 was the easier gate; the number that lands you a post is the one you score on 17 September. Anyone treating this shortlist as a half-victory is misreading it.
RRB NTPC UG CBT 1 Cut-Off 2026: Zone-Wise and Category-Wise
Cut-off marks here are normalised scores out of 100, published to five decimal places in the official PDFs. The table below rounds to two decimals for readability. Every figure is from the zone cut-off PDFs released on 24 and 25 August.
"NA" means no candidate was shortlisted in that category for that post group in that zone, usually because the zone had no vacancy there.
How to read the Post Category column
RRB does not print post names in the cut-off PDF. It prints category numbers that map to the post table inside CEN 07/2025, and the mapping is stated at the top of your zone PDF. Before you compare your score against any row, confirm which number corresponds to the post you were shortlisted for. Comparing yourself against the wrong category number is the single most common mistake on result day.

Ajmer, Prayagraj, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Guwahati, Jammu-Srinagar, Kolkata, Malda, Mumbai, Patna and Secunderabad have all published their cut-off PDFs on their own websites, but the compiled figures for them are not settled enough to reprint here. What the spread says
The gap between the toughest and easiest zone this cycle is roughly 11 marks in the UR category alone, from Chandigarh at 85.80 down to Ahmedabad at 74.33. Chandigarh and Gorakhpur ran hardest; Ahmedabad and Siliguri were softest.
For the Bihar and Jharkhand side, both Muzaffarpur (82.82) and Ranchi (83.10 and 83.53) crossed 82 in UR. Ranchi is the tougher of the two. Zone selection at form-fill decides your competition pool, and this cycle shows exactly how much that one dropdown was worth.
Qualifying Percentage and Cut-Off Are Not the Same Thing
A lot of candidates are confusing these two, so keep them separate.
- Minimum qualifying percentage is a floor RRB applies before anything else: 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC-NCL and SC, 25% for ST. PwBD candidates get a 2% relaxation where there is a shortfall against reserved vacancies.
- Cut-off is the normalised score of the last candidate actually shortlisted in your zone, category and post group. It is decided by vacancies and competition, not by any fixed percentage.
Clearing the 40% floor means nothing on its own. In Chandigarh the working UR cut-off sat above 85. The floor only removes you from consideration; the cut-off is what selects.
One more thing worth repeating: CBT 1 is qualifying only. Your CBT 1 marks do not carry into the final merit list. Whatever number is on your scorecard, high or barely over the line, it resets on 17 September.
How to Check Your Result and Download the Scorecard
- Open the website of the RRB zone you applied under, not any other zone.
- Go to Results or Latest Notifications and find the CEN 07/2025 NTPC (UG) 1st Stage CBT result notice.
- Open the shortlist PDF. It carries roll numbers only, in ascending order, with no names.
- Press Ctrl+F and type your full roll number. Match every digit, not just the last four.
- Open the separate cut-off PDF from the same notice and note the figure for your category and post group.
- Log in on the scorecard portal with your registration number and date of birth to see raw marks, normalised marks and your qualifying status.
Save the shortlist PDF and a screenshot of your scorecard locally. Servers get slow before every RRB deadline, and you will want offline proof when the CBT 2 city slip window opens.
Reading Your Scorecard Properly
Most candidates glance at the total and close the tab. That wastes the most useful document of this cycle, because your scorecard shows raw marks, normalised marks and, in most zones, the section split across General Awareness, Mathematics and Reasoning.
Three numbers deserve a minute each.
- Your margin over the cut-off. Under 3 marks means you scraped through and cannot afford a weak section in CBT 2.
- Your General Awareness score. GA weight jumps from 40 questions in CBT 1 to 50 in CBT 2, so a soft GA number here is a direct warning.
- Your accuracy. If you attempted 85 and got 60 right, the problem is question selection, not syllabus coverage. Negative marking will punish that harder in a 120-question paper.
Candidates who missed the cut should still download the scorecard. RRB ALP, Group D and JE cycles are running, and knowing exactly which section sank you is worth more than another month of unfocused revision.
CBT 2 on 17 September: Dates and Pattern
Two of those rows are firmer than the rest. The 17 September date comes from the Ministry of Railways notice for CEN 07/2025, so it is settled. The city slip and e-call letter have been notified only as a rule, 10 days and 4 days before the exam, not as calendar dates, which is why some trackers print 13 September for the admit card and others print 14. Negative marking stays at one-third of a mark per wrong answer, and normalisation applies again if the exam runs across shifts. Read the weightage carefully: General Awareness alone carries more marks than Mathematics, and it is the fastest section to convert if your current affairs are fresh.
19 Days to CBT 2: What Actually Fits
Nineteen days is enough to sharpen, not enough to rebuild. This plan assumes your CBT 1 base is intact. If you stopped studying in June, halve the revision breadth and protect accuracy instead of chasing coverage.
- Days 1 to 7: Current affairs of the last six months, Railway-specific GK (zones, production units, new trains, budget allocations), and static GK from your CBT 1 notes. One CBT 2-pattern mock every alternate day.
- Days 8 to 15: A full 90-minute mock daily on a strict timer. Maths: percentage, ratio, time and work, SI and CI, mensuration. Reasoning: puzzles, syllogism, coding-decoding, statement and conclusion. Review every wrong answer the same evening.
- Days 16 to 19: Mocks and error-log revision only. No new topics. Shift your sleep cycle to match your exam slot.

Vacancy Break-Up Under CEN 07/2025
Nearly 8 out of every 10 posts this cycle are Commercial cum Ticket Clerk. If Accounts Clerk or Junior Clerk sat high in your preference order, remember both need a typing skill test after CBT 2: English at 30 words per minute or Hindi at 25 words per minute on computer, with no editing tools available.
