SSC CGL 60-Day Study Plan 2026: Day-Wise Tier-1 Roadmap

SSC notified 12,256 CGL posts on 21 May 2026 and closed the application window on 22 June 2026. Since then lakhs of candidates have been refreshing ssc.gov.in for one line that still is not there: the Tier-1 schedule notice. Coaching sites keep writing September to October 2026, but that is their guess, not the Commission's word.

That silence is actually your runway. If Tier-1 lands in the back half of October, you have close to 60 clean days. This plan is built for exactly that window, and it tells you what to delete if the date turns out to be sooner. One honest warning before Day 1: this is a plan for someone who has already been through the syllabus once. If you are opening a Quant book for the first time this week, double every timeline written below.

Why 15 Minutes Is Your Real Exam, Not 60

The single biggest change in the 2026 cycle is the 15-minute block per section. Read our breakdown of all the SSC CGL 2026 changes if you have not already.

Do the arithmetic. Twenty-five questions in 900 seconds is 36 seconds per question, and that number does not move no matter how good your English is. In the old format a strong English section finished in 8 minutes and donated 7 minutes to Quant. That trade is gone.

So the plan below is not organised around "study Maths on Monday". It is organised around producing four independent 15-minute machines. Treat the block as locked while you practise, and confirm the exact revisit rule from the Scheme of Examination in the official notice when it drops.

Tier-1 Exam Pattern You Are Preparing Against

SectionQuestionsMarksTime blockRealistic target
General Intelligence and Reasoning255015 minutes23 to 24 correct
General Awareness255015 minutes16 to 19 correct
Quantitative Aptitude255015 minutes19 to 21 correct
English Comprehension255015 minutes21 to 23 correct
Total10020060 minutes150 to 165 marks

Those targets are set against real cut-off history. In the 2025 cycle the UR cut-off for Other Posts settled around 136.83 and about 1,39,395 candidates cleared for Tier-2. With vacancies down to 12,256 this year, a 150-plus raw score is the sensible aim, not a stretch goal. The full table sits in our SSC CGL cut-off history and expected 2026 cut-off piece.

Phase 1, Days 1 to 20: Close The Syllabus, Repair The Holes

No mocks-first heroics in this phase. You are here to finish every chapter you have been avoiding since June.

16 to 20Geometry, Mensuration, DINon-verbal, Matrix, Word Formation, VennCloze Test, Para Jumble, ComprehensionScience + Economy basics, static GK

Daily rhythm in Phase 1: two new chapters, 40 practice questions each, one 15-minute sectional drill in the evening. That evening drill is non-negotiable from Day 1. You are teaching your hands the clock, not just your head the concept.

If your book stack is still messy, our SSC CGL 2026 booklist narrows it to one book per subject. Do not carry four Quant books into a 60-day plan. That is how people finish none of them.

Phase 2, Days 21 to 40: Convert Knowledge Into Speed

You know the chapters now. This phase decides whether you can do them in 36 seconds.

  • Four sectional drills daily, one per section, strictly 15 minutes each, timer visible.
  • Two full mocks a week (Days 24, 27, 31, 34, 38, 40), attempted in the actual 9:00 to 10:00 AM slot if you can.
  • Error log every night. Three columns: question type, why it went wrong, fix. Silly mistake, concept gap, or time panic. Those three buckets need three different medicines.
  • Quant shortcut sheet. Squares to 40, cubes to 20, fractions to percentage up to 1 by 20, and the 12 formulas you keep forgetting. One A4 sheet, revised daily.
  • GA current affairs: 30 minutes daily on the last 10 months, plus one 25-question GA quiz.

Here is a habit that separates 145 from 165. After every mock, do not chase your total. Open the section where your accuracy dropped below 85 percent and rebuild only that. Chasing totals feels productive and changes nothing.

Phase 3, Days 41 to 54: Mock, Bleed, Fix, Repeat

DaysWhat you doWhy
41 to 474 full mocks + 4 sectional drills dailyBuild stamina for four back-to-back locked blocks
48 to 544 full mocks + previous-year pattern setsMatch SSC's question flavour, not a coaching institute's
Every night90-minute mock analysisAnalysis time should be longer than the mock itself
Every SundayFull revision of the error logRepeat mistakes are the real cut-off killer

By Day 50 your GA section should be the one you stop worrying about. It is the only section where 15 minutes is generous, because a GA question is either known in 8 seconds or it is not known at all. Attempt what you know, mark nothing on pure guesses, and bank the leftover minutes as calm.

Phase 4, Days 55 to 60: Taper, Do Not Cram

  • Day 55 to 57: one full mock daily, plus revision of formula sheet, idioms list, and one-word substitutions.
  • Day 58: last full mock. After this, no new mock. Your score today is not a prediction.
  • Day 59: error log, static GK one-pager, Polity revision. Sleep by 10 PM.
  • Day 60: admit card, ID proof, photographs, centre route check. Read nothing heavy.

Aspirants lose marks on exam day mostly to sleep debt, not syllabus gaps. If you have been sleeping at 2 AM through Phase 3, start shifting your body clock from Day 50, not Day 59.

Daily Timetable: Two Versions

SlotFull-time aspirantWorking or college-going aspirant
Morning2 hrs Quant (fresh brain, hardest section)1 hr Quant before leaving
Late morning1.5 hrs ReasoningCommute: GA audio, current affairs
Afternoon1.5 hrs EnglishLunch break: 15-min English drill
Evening1 hr GA + current affairs1.5 hrs rotating section of the day
Night4 x 15-min sectional drills + analysis2 x 15-min drills + analysis
Total7 to 8 hrs4 to 5 hrs

The working version drops to two sectional drills on weekdays and pushes all four onto Saturday and Sunday. Fewer hours, same drill discipline. A candidate doing 4 focused hours daily will beat a candidate doing 9 unfocused ones, and every SSC topper interview since 2019 has said some version of this.

If The Date Comes Early: The 30-Day Compression

SSC has released Tier-1 dates with barely three to four weeks of notice in past cycles. If the schedule notice drops and you are left with 30 days, do not restart the plan. Compress it.

  • Skip Phase 1 entirely. Assume the syllabus is closed and move to drills.
  • Run Phase 2 in 12 days instead of 20, but keep all four daily sectional drills.
  • Cut full mocks from 18 to 10, and keep the 90-minute analysis on every one.
  • Drop low-yield Quant topics (Height and Distance, complex Mensuration solids) and defend Arithmetic, which carries the bigger share of Tier-1 Quant.
  • Keep the taper. Even a 30-day plan needs the last three days light.

Four Mistakes That Cost People Tier-1

  • Over-attempting under negative marking. At 0.50 per wrong, 12 blind guesses cost you 6 marks. Cut-offs are decided by fractions.
  • Practising without the timer. Untimed practice builds confidence and nothing else.
  • Hoarding mocks for later. Mocks are the syllabus, not the exam rehearsal.
  • Ignoring GA until Day 45. GA is 50 marks. Treating it as a bonus section is why people land at 138 instead of 152.

Practise The Way The Exam Is Now Built

Ordinary mocks that give you 60 loose minutes will not prepare you for four locked blocks. ExamAtlas has free SSC CGL sectional and full-length mocks built on the 2026 sectional-timing format, with AI analytics that show your accuracy and time-per-question section by section. If your Quant accuracy is 78 percent, the report tells you which chapter is dragging it down instead of leaving you to guess.

Pair the plan with our SSC CGL Tier-1 syllabus 2026 breakdown so you can tick chapters off as you close them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 60 days enough for SSC CGL Tier-1?

Yes, if you have already covered the syllabus once and can give 5 or more focused hours daily. Sixty days is enough to convert knowledge into speed. It is not enough to learn Trigonometry, Geometry and Data Interpretation from zero while also doing 18 mocks.

What is the SSC CGL 2026 Tier-1 exam date?

SSC has not released the Tier-1 schedule notice yet. Coaching portals expect September to October 2026, but treat that as unconfirmed and check ssc.gov.in for the official notice and city intimation slip.

How many marks are safe in Tier-1 this year?

With 12,256 posts and the 2025 UR Other Posts cut-off around 136.83, a raw score of 150 to 165 puts you in comfortable territory. A score in the 140s is borderline and depends heavily on your post preference.

How many mocks should I attempt in 60 days?

Around 18 full mocks and 60 sectional drills. Quality matters more than count. A mock you analysed for 90 minutes teaches you more than three mocks you only scored.

Can I clear Tier-1 while working a full-time job?

Many people do, on 4 to 5 hours a day. The trade-off is that you must protect the sectional drills and mock analysis, and let go of leisurely chapter reading. Use commute time for General Awareness.

Which section should I attempt first in the exam?

With a fixed block per section the order is decided by the exam interface, not by you, so the old first-section strategy loses its meaning. Prepare each section to stand on its own for 15 minutes and confirm the sequence rules from the official Scheme of Examination.

Final Word

One number is worth carrying into Day 1. Vacancies fell from over 14,000 in the 2024 cycle to 12,256 this year, while applications have not fallen at all. That maths pushes the cut-off up, not down, so a score that was safe two years ago is only average now.

Print the phase tables, stick them above your desk, and mark each day off. On Day 61, when the schedule notice finally arrives, you want to be the person adjusting a plan rather than starting one.
