SSC CHSL Apply Online 2026: Form Steps, Fee, Last Date 7 October

The SSC CHSL apply online window opened on 7 September 2026 and closes on 7 October 2026 at 11:00 PM. The form takes about 30 minutes, but a few new rules can get it rejected even after you pay.

For posts, pay and stages, see our SSC CHSL complete guide. Not sure you qualify on age or education? First, check eligibility.

SSC CHSL 2026 Last Date: Key Dates Box

SSC has not extended the SSC CHSL last date as of 16 September 2026. Do not plan around an extension.

EventDate and time
Apply online starts7 September 2026
Last date to submit the form7 October 2026, 11:00 PM
Last date for online fee payment8 October 2026, 11:00 PM
Correction window and correction charge payment14 to 16 October 2026, 11:00 PM
Tier 1 examTo be notified later (expected between December 2026 and February 2027, as per coaching estimates; not official)
Tier 2 examTo be notified later

The notice warns that the site slows down near the deadline. Finish by 30 September so a failed payment still has a week to be fixed.

For vacancy numbers (about 2,536, tentative) and the full list of changes, see our notification and vacancy breakdown.

Step 1: Create a New OTR on ssc.gov.in or the mySSC App

Apply only on ssc.gov.in or through the mySSC mobile app from Google Play. A One-Time Registration (OTR) made on the old ssc.nic.in site does not work here, so register again.

A new OTR stays valid for every future SSC exam on ssc.gov.in. Already registered there for SSC CGL 2026 or another exam? Just log in.

Keep these ready before you start OTR

  • Your own mobile number and email ID (OTP verified; SSC will not change them later)
  • Aadhaar number, or another ID number such as Voter ID, PAN, Passport or Driving Licence
  • Class 10 board, roll number and passing year, plus Class 12 details
  • Disability certificate number, if you are PwBD

Finish the OTR within 14 days of saving basic details, or SSC deletes the saved data.

SSC CHSL Form Fill Up: Step-by-Step Process

The SSC CHSL form fill up runs in this order: OTR first, then the exam application.

  1. On ssc.gov.in, click Login or Register, then Register Now.
  2. Pick Aadhaar authentication, or upload proofs of name, date of birth, address, photo and gender.
  3. Enter name, date of birth, father's and mother's name exactly as on your Class 10 certificate. A mismatch between the two entry boxes shows in red.
  4. Add Class 10 details, mobile and email, verify both by OTP, then log in with the Registration Number and change the password.
  5. Fill category, nationality, identification mark, disability and address, then Final Submit with an OTP.
  6. Log in again and click Apply against Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination 2026.
  7. Add education, ex-servicemen and age relaxation details (fields 1 to 18 auto-fill).
  8. Select 3 centres in priority order inside one SSC region; answer the PwBD and scribe questions if they apply.
  9. Choose the exam language, the Typing Test medium, and whether you studied Science with Mathematics in Class 12.
  10. Capture your live photo, upload your signature, check Preview, tick I agree and submit.
  11. Pay Rs 100 if not exempt, check Payment Status and save a printout.

Keep the application copy and exam records for at least 3 years, as the notice asks. The form also lets you opt out of public disclosure of your scores on the NCS portal.

Aadhaar Authentication Is Now Optional: With vs Without

Aadhaar authentication was compulsory last cycle (as reported by coaching sites). For 2026, SSC only advises it, and the two routes are not equal.

PointWith Aadhaar authenticationWithout Aadhaar authentication
Rejection over photo or signature qualityProtectedNot protected
Documents at OTRAadhaar number onlyProofs of name, date of birth, address, photo, gender
Exam day reportingAs per admit card2 hours before the exam
What to carry on exam dayNo extra photos or photo ID2 recent passport photos plus original photo ID with date of birth

Valid IDs include Voter ID, Driving Licence, PAN, Passport, college ID and government employer ID. If your ID has no date of birth, carry an extra original proof; a date mismatch with the admit card means no entry.

My honest view: unless your Aadhaar name differs from your 10th certificate, take the Aadhaar route. It removes photo and signature quality as grounds for rejection.

Relief for visually handicapped candidates

VH candidates are exempt from Aadhaar face authentication at the application stage and can verify through Aadhaar OTP instead. Biometric verification at the exam venue still applies to all VH candidates.

Live Photo Capture Rules

The website or mySSC app opens your camera and takes the photo live. No laptop camera? Scan the on-screen QR code and use an Android phone.

  • Good light, plain background, camera at eye level, look straight ahead.
  • Whole face inside the camera frame, not too close or too far.
  • No cap, mask or glasses.
  • Never click a photo of an existing photo. SSC rejects such forms outright.

Your look on exam day should match this photo, or venue staff can stop you.

Signature Specification

ItemRequirement
FormatJPEG or JPG
File size10 to 20 KB
DimensionAbout 6.0 cm wide x 2.0 cm high
Rejected ifBlurred or miniature (unless you are Aadhaar authenticated)

Sign in black ink on white paper, crop tightly and compress to the size range. A tiny signature in a big white image counts as miniature.

Typing Test Medium: Your Choice Is Final

The Hindi or English Typing Test medium you pick in the form is final. English needs 35 words per minute and Hindi needs 30, and Hindi typing for LDC/JSA must be done in Mangal font only.

Pick the language you can type today. If you have never used Mangal, English is usually safer. For the full Tier 2 structure, understand the exam pattern.

New Centre Rule: 3 Choices in One SSC Region

This is the biggest change in the form. Choose 3 exam centres in order of priority, and all three must fall inside the same SSC region. Patna first and Delhi second is no longer possible, and SSC will not change your centre later at any stage.

SSC regionStates and UTs coveredSome centres
Central (CR)Bihar, Uttar PradeshPatna, Gaya, Lucknow
Eastern (ER)Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Andaman and NicobarRanchi, Kolkata
Karnataka Kerala (KKR)Karnataka, Kerala, LakshadweepBengaluru, Ernakulam
Madhya Pradesh (MPR)Madhya Pradesh, ChhattisgarhBhopal, Raipur
North Eastern (NER)Assam and six other NE statesGuwahati, Shillong
Northern (NR)Delhi, Rajasthan, UttarakhandDelhi, Jaipur
North Western (NWR)Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, ChandigarhChandigarh, Jammu
Southern (SR)Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, PuducherryChennai, Hyderabad
Western (WR)Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman DiuMumbai, Ahmedabad

There are 136 centres. Last year's list had 130, with 13 added and 7 dropped this year (as reported by coaching sites, verify on ssc.gov.in). SSC can still add, cancel or divert centres.

How to choose your three centres

  • Rank first the city you can reach by an early train or bus. A Jharkhand student might list Ranchi, Bokaro and Dhanbad.
  • Studying in another state? Choose the region you will live in between December and February.
  • Match each city with its centre code in the official list before you submit.

Common Reasons SSC Rejects CHSL Applications

All of these come from the notice.

  1. Fee not received by 8 October 2026 (form stays Incomplete).
  2. Photo of an existing photograph instead of a live photo.
  3. Blurred photo, or photo with cap, mask or glasses (unless Aadhaar authenticated).
  4. Blurred or miniature signature (unless Aadhaar authenticated).
  5. More than one application: all are rejected, and appearing twice can mean debarment.

  7. Class 12 result not declared by 7 October 2026.
  8. Wrong category, age relaxation or PwBD claim.
  9. Age outside 18 to 27 years on 1 August 2026 after allowed relaxation.
  10. Claiming Science with Mathematics for DEO posts without having it.

No. The old OTR does not work on the new website. Create a new OTR on ssc.gov.in or the mySSC app.

I am appearing in Class 12. Can I apply?

Yes, if your result is declared on or before 7 October 2026. Result under processing does not count.

Form Done? Start Practice With the New Timer

The next real problem is the Tier 1 sectional timer. Each of the 4 sections now gets a fixed 15 minutes, and time saved in one cannot be used in another. Finishing GA in 6 minutes to give Quant 25 no longer works.

ExamAtlas has 7 free SSC CHSL Tier 1 mock tests that run the same 15-minute sectional timer, so you can find out which section runs out of time for you. Take one this week and plan your study around where the timer caught you.
