Here is the problem with everything else you will read today. Coverage of this recruitment disagrees on the vacancy count, the exam date, and even the exam pattern. Some sites say 32,388 posts, others say 46,595. Some say the exam is on 22 to 27 September, others say November or December. Some describe a single paper, others a new Prelims and Mains structure. 1. The Vacancy Count
The requisition figure confirmed by the Chief Minister is 32,388. Separate reporting puts the total at 44,000, 45,000 or 46,595, with one source attributing 46,595 to administrative approval by the BPSC Secretary.
There is a further wrinkle. The class-wise breakdown circulating widely is 3,847 for Classes 1-5, 8,563 for Classes 6-8, 3,878 for Classes 9-10 and 16,101 for Classes 11-12. Add those and you get 32,389, not 32,388. A one-post gap is trivial in itself, but it tells you these tables are being copied between sites rather than checked against a source document.
What to do: treat 32,388 as the working figure since it has the strongest attribution, and expect the notification to settle it. Do not plan around 46,595.
2. The Exam Date
Multiple sites report the exam as 22 to 27 September 2026. At least one source states directly that, contrary to circulating rumours, the exam is likely to be held in November or December 2026 rather than September.
That is not a small gap. It is the difference between six weeks of preparation and four months.
What to do: prepare on the September assumption. If the exam lands in November you have gained time. If you prepare for November and the exam is in September, you have lost the recruitment.
3. The Exam Pattern
This is the most consequential dispute. Earlier TRE phases used a single written paper. Reports now say TRE 4.0 will move to a two-stage Prelims and Mains structure.
The reasoning offered is circumstantial rather than official. BPSC re-notified its AEDO recruitment in 2026 with a Prelims and Mains system after cancelling the earlier notification, which is being read as evidence that the Commission is standardising a two-stage pattern across its exams. Another portal words it carefully, saying TRE 4.0 "may now" be conducted in two phases.
Nobody appears to be quoting an official BPSC notice that says this about TRE specifically.
What to do: your syllabus does not change either way. Language, General Studies and your subject paper are the content in both structures. What changes is stamina and staging, so keep building subject depth now and adapt the exam strategy once the notification lands.
4. The Age Reference Date
One source gives the age calculation date as 1 August 2025 and marks it tentative. Another cites 1 August 2023, which is carried over from an older notification. If your age sits near a category ceiling, a two-year swing in the reference date decides whether you can apply at all.
What to do: do not calculate your eligibility from any blog, including this one, until the notification PDF is out.
Class-Wise Vacancy Breakdown
Look at that last row. The Class 11-12 PGT block alone is 16,101 posts, which is close to 50 percent of the entire recruitment. Classes 1-8 together carry 12,410, which is fewer than PGT on its own.
That is unusual and almost nobody is leading with it. Bihar teacher recruitment has historically been dominated by primary and middle school hiring. If you hold a postgraduate degree with B.Ed in your subject, this is the largest single opportunity in the notification, and the competition ratio should be far friendlier than the primary level where every D.El.Ed holder in the state applies.
The Classes 9-10 block at 3,878 is the tightest in the recruitment. A TGT aspirant is competing for fewer posts than a primary aspirant, with a narrower subject spread.
Eligibility by Level
Classes 1-5, Primary Teacher
Any one of these routes, per NCTE norms:
- Class 12 with at least 50 percent plus a 2-year D.El.Ed
- Class 12 with at least 45 percent plus a 2-year D.El.Ed under relaxed NCTE norms
- Class 12 with at least 50 percent plus a 4-year B.El.Ed
- Class 12 with at least 50 percent plus a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
- Graduation with at least 50 percent plus a 2-year D.El.Ed
Plus CTET Paper 1 or STET Paper 1.
Classes 6-8, Middle School Teacher
Graduation with B.Ed or equivalent, subject-linked, plus CTET Paper 2 or the corresponding STET level. Subject choice at application is binding, so match it to your degree.
Classes 9-10, Secondary Teacher
Bachelor's degree in the relevant subject plus B.Ed, with STET at the secondary level. Some reporting indicates a Master's requirement for certain subjects, which is one more thing to verify in the PDF.
Classes 11-12, Senior Secondary Teacher
Master's degree in the concerned subject with at least 50 percent marks, plus B.Ed, BA.Ed or BSc.Ed from a recognised institution. One source notes an alternative route through a postgraduate degree with 55 percent and a 3-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed.
All degrees and diplomas must be from NCTE-recognised institutions. Subject-wise criteria are enforced strictly at document verification.
Age Limits
On the minimum, TRE 4.0 reportedly introduces a split that earlier phases did not have: 18 years for Classes 1-8 posts and 21 years for Classes 9-12 posts. If you are 19 or 20 with a postgraduate degree, that single rule could keep you out of the PGT block, so check it in the notification before you plan.
The CTET and STET Question
A TET pass at the relevant level is mandatory. CTET Paper 1 is accepted for primary posts. For higher levels, reporting suggests Bihar STET is preferred or required, which is a meaningful distinction for candidates holding only CTET.

Salary
Posts fall in Levels 6 to 9 of the pay matrix depending on the teaching level, under the 7th Pay Commission structure. Reported starting figures run from around ₹25,000 to ₹40,000 per month depending on level, before allowances.
Teachers also receive Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance in the 8 to 24 percent band depending on city class, medical benefits, NPS pension and annual increments of roughly 3 percent.
Be careful with DA figures in older articles. Several still quote 30 percent, which is out of date. Recompute any in-hand estimate you read rather than accepting it.
