• TRAI launched the Network Anubhav Platform on 4 November 2026, a geospatial dashboard that shows mobile and fixed broadband download and upload speeds across the country. • Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes became the 2026 Formula One World Champion at the Mexico City Grand Prix on 1 November 2026, aged 20 years and 68 days, the youngest champion in the sport's history. • Prashant Chaudhary, founder of the CodeYogi Foundation, received the fifth Rohini Nayyar Prize on 31 October 2026 for outstanding contribution to rural development. • DRDO test-fired the indigenous Pralay missile from Launch Complex-3 at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the Odisha coast, around 3 November 2026. World Tsunami Awareness Day, 5 November 2026, carries the theme "Be tsunami ready: Resilience starts with you". The UN General Assembly designated the day in December 2015 through Resolution 70/203, on a proposal from Japan. The date comes from the 1854 Nankai earthquake story of Inamura-no-hi, "the fire of rice sheaves", in which Hamaguchi Goryo burned his rice harvest to guide villagers in Hiro to high ground, then built a 5 metre seawall that held during the 1946 tsunami.

The day is led by UNDRR, the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction. In the last 100 years, 58 tsunamis have killed more than 2,60,000 people, an average of about 4,600 per event, with the December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami the deadliest of them.
