EOS-05 went up on GSLV-F17 at 2:55 AM on 4 September. The Duleep Trophy final started at Chepauk on 6 September. And BPSC 72nd prelims, now fixed for 25 October, will carry negative marking for the first time. That is the shape of this week for an aspirant.

Three supporting points from the same week. India and Belgium signed MoUs in New Delhi on energy and defence, pushing a relationship that used to run mostly on diamond trade into semiconductors, critical minerals and green hydrogen. Russia moved its first crude through the Vostok Oil trunk pipeline, loading at the Sever Bay terminal in Krasnoyarsk. And New Delhi hosted the three-day BRICS Chief Justices' Forum from 4 September.

7. India's direct tax buoyancy stood at 1.39 in 2024-25, the third financial year in a row above 1. Buoyancy above 1 means tax collection grew faster than the economy itself. (Banking / SSC)
8. Life Insurance Corporation of India received RBI approval to acquire a stake in ICICI Bank, disclosed through a regulatory filing. (Banking / All exams)
9. The Japan Credit Rating Agency upgraded India's sovereign rating to A- from BBB+. (Banking / SSC)
Banking aspirants should also carry these: real GDP grew 7.8 percent in Q1 of 2026-27 on the 2022-23 base as per MoSPI, IRDAI floated a consultation paper proposing a Public Insurance Registry, NCDEX launched RAINCHNNAI, a weather futures contract on Chennai's north-east monsoon rainfall, and the sugar stock-holding limit for dealers and traders was cut to 2,000 quintals. The government also set a target of 100 new airports over the next decade under the Modified UDAN framework.

One honest caution here. Nominations are open, the winners are not out. If a Telegram channel posts a "National Sports Awards 2026 winner list" today, it is invented. The same goes for Asian Games medal tallies, because the Aichi-Nagoya Games have not started yet.

14. ISRO launched EOS-05 on 4 September at 2:55 AM IST aboard GSLV-F17, the 19th flight of the GSLV, from the Second Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. It is India's first imaging satellite placed in a geosynchronous orbit, injected first into a sub-GTO. (All exams)
15. Adani Defence and Aerospace signed a five-year agreement with Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited to supply indigenous 7.62x39 mm ammunition for the AK-203 rifle programme. (Defence / SSC)
16. The Indian Air Force test-fired the indigenously designed long-range glide bomb Khagantak-243 from a Sukhoi fighter. (Defence / All exams)

17. BPSC 72nd CCE prelims is now set for 25 October 2026 for 1,186 posts, and for the first time the prelims carries negative marking of one-third of a mark for every wrong or multiple-marked answer, across 150 questions in two hours. (BPSC)
18. Jharkhand is moving to fill 23,610 government posts, of which 1,645 go through JPSC and 21,965 through JSSC, while a committee under the Development Commissioner examines a shift to computer-based tests and multi-phase preliminary exams after the paper-leak record of recent years. (JSSC / JPSC)
19. Patna Metro received 628.32 crore rupees for 2026-27 out of the 2,628.32 crore rupees the Centre sanctioned to Bihar under SASCI on 23 July 2026. Line 2, the Blue Line, is already running and was extended to Malahi Pakri on 2 July, with the 32.5 km Phase-1 funded on a 20-20-60 split that includes a JICA loan. (BPSC / BSSC / Bihar Police)
Four more state points you should be able to recall in an interview. BSSC CGL vacancies were revised to 1,883 and prelims is expected in the September to October window. JSSC JTGLCCE is running for roughly 615 posts with the application deadline extended. The Bihar Cabinet cleared DPR work on four RRTS corridors, Patna to Gaya Ji, Patna Airport to Begusarai, Patna to Hajipur to Muzaffarpur, and Patna Airport to Ara, with NCRTC handling the study. And the Mukhya Mantri Swayam Sahayta Bhatta Yojana, the state's unemployment allowance, was extended through 2030-31 with 300 crore rupees approved for 2026-27.
On the Jharkhand side, the state's new agriculture push sets up a model farmer school and a model agriculture village in every district, solar irrigation pumps under Kisan Samriddhi Yojana, mushroom training centres, and women-led farmer producer groups, with pulses and millets pushed in low-rainfall areas such as the Palamu division.
