Future Tenses
1. Simple Future
Subject + will + V1
Used for predictions, spontaneous decisions, promises and offers.
- The result will be declared next month. (prediction)
- I will help you with the application. (offer)
ध्यान दें: आधुनिक अंग्रेज़ी में सभी पुरुषों के साथ will चलता है। पुराना shall/will का भेद अब परीक्षाओं में कम पूछा जाता है।
2. Future Continuous
Subject + will be + V4
Used for an action that will be in progress at a given future moment.
- This time tomorrow we will be writing the paper.
3. Future Perfect
Subject + will have + V3
Used for an action that will be completed before a stated future point, usually marked by by.
- By December she will have completed the syllabus.
4. Future Perfect Continuous
Subject + will have been + V4
Used for the duration of an action up to a future point.
- By next April he will have been serving in this school for ten years.
Other Ways of Expressing the Future
- be going to — an intention already decided, or a prediction based on present evidence: Look at those clouds — it is going to rain.
- Present continuous — a fixed arrangement: We are visiting the DEO tomorrow.
- Simple present — a timetabled event: The examination begins on Monday.
Exam pointer: Time clauses beginning with when, until, before, after, as soon as take the present tense, not will. ✗ I will call you when I will reach. ✓ I will call you when I reach.
