Bihar has advertised 32,388 school teacher posts under Advertisement No. 14/2026, dated 18.08.2026. That single number is why coaching halls on Boring Road in Patna are full again, and why the question in every aspirant group right now is not whether to apply but how fast the pattern will settle.
It has already moved once. The advertisement that came out in August carried a two stage Prelims plus Mains structure. On 27 August 2026, Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary announced that TRE 4.0 will be held in a single stage. One honest caveat. BPSC has not yet published the revised advertisement that puts the single stage decision into an official document. Until that PDF lands on bpsc.bihar.gov.in, treat the single paper structure as the working plan and keep checking the commission site.
32,388 posts, split by level
Half the recruitment sits at Class 11-12. If you hold a postgraduate degree with B.Ed and the relevant STET Paper-II, that is where the numbers are kindest to you. Class 9-10, with 3,877 posts, is the tightest bracket in the cycle.
There is also a pending supplementary requisition for Bangla, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Arabic, Farsi and Agriculture. Posts in those subjects may be added later, so the 32,388 figure could rise. It will not fall.
The exam pattern in one table
Marking is +1 for correct and -1/3 for wrong. There are five options, A to E, and E stands for not attempted. Leaving a question fully blank also costs you -1/3, so if you want to skip a question you must physically bubble E. This single rule has cost candidates marks in every recent BPSC OMR exam.

Qualifying percentage by category
The 32% slab for women and Divyang candidates applies only to Bihar domicile holders. Qualifying marks and cut-off are two different things, and confusing them is the most common mistake aspirants make. Qualifying marks get you counted. Cut-off gets you selected.
Where the application stands today
The original window was 1 to 30 September 2026, with fee payment closing on 29 September. That window was postponed. The single stage announcement forced BPSC to rework both the advertisement and the application form.
The commission has indicated a restart around 21 September 2026. The word used in the notice is sambhavna, meaning possibility. It is not a confirmed date, and several aggregator sites have already printed it as if it were. Keep your documents ready and watch bpsc.bihar.gov.in rather than a calendar.

Your merit is built on 120 marks, and 80 of those come from your own subject. That is 66.67% of everything that counts. A candidate who is strong in General Studies but shaky in their subject will not clear this exam, no matter how many current affairs PDFs they finish.
Spend your first two weeks on the subject paper at the level you are actually eligible for. Not the level you wish you were eligible for. Then build General Studies around it. Language needs nine marks and a weekend, nothing more.

Documents to keep ready before the form opens

- Matriculation certificate for date of birth, plus Inter and degree marksheets
- B.Ed, D.El.Ed or the training certificate your level requires
- CTET, BTET or STET certificate matching your level, with roll number
- Bihar domicile or residence certificate if you are claiming state reservation, the 40% schooling benefit or the women quota
- Caste certificate and EWS certificate in the Bihar format, not the central format
- Aadhaar, a recent passport photo and a signature scan
