Heads up: The widely shared official PDF (Advt. No. 02/23 A) showing 23,175 vacancies and a last date of 25/27 November 2025 was an early revision. BSSC later revised both the vacancy count and the deadline several times. The final vacancy figure is 26,426, and the online application last date was extended to 16 February 2026, which is now closed. Fresh applications are no longer accepted.

Eligibility — Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed Intermediate (10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognised board/institution by the last date of online application. The qualification must be from a board established by the Government of India / State Government.

Technical / Desirable Qualification

Several posts require computer / typing knowledge and Hindi typing ability (e.g., LDC, Clerk-cum-Typist). Such candidates must clear a typing / skill test after the Mains.

The minimum age is 18 years. Ex-servicemen, NCC cadets and government servants get additional relaxation as per rules.

Reservation — Key Points

  • 35% horizontal reservation for women — only for Bihar domicile women (across reserved and unreserved).
  • 10% EWS (Economically Weaker Section) as per rules.
  • 4% horizontal reservation for benchmark Persons with Disability (PwBD) — state domicile only.
  • 2% for grandchildren of freedom fighters.
  • Caste and gender based reservation applies only to Bihar domicile candidates.

Selection Process

  1. Preliminary Exam (PT) — qualifying, objective type.
  2. Main Exam — candidates equal to 5 times the category-wise vacancy qualify from Prelims. Mains marks count in the final merit.
  3. Skill / Typing Test — only for posts that require typing (e.g., LDC).
  4. Document Verification — final stage.

The Prelims has a single General Knowledge paper with three sections.

Prelims Syllabus

Section A — General Studies

Current affairs, scientific progress, national/international awards, Indian languages, scripts, capitals, currency, sports, important events. History, culture, geography, freedom movement, Constitution, Panchayati Raj and the contribution of Bihar to the national movement.

Section B — General Science & Maths (Matric level)

Science: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography. Maths: Number system, decimals and fractions, percentage, ratio & proportion, average, interest, profit & loss, basic arithmetic.

Section C — Mental Ability

Both verbal and non-verbal — analogy, similarity & difference, space visualisation, problem solving, visual memory, discrimination, relationship concepts, arithmetic reasoning, number series, coding-decoding.

How to Apply (Reference)

The application window closed on 16 February 2026. For reference, the process was:

  1. Open bssc.bihar.gov.in or onlinebssc.com.
  2. Complete registration, upload a live photo and Hindi/English signatures.
  3. Fill correct details for qualification, caste, domicile, EWS/PwD certificates.
  4. Pay the ₹100 fee online (Debit/Credit/UPI/Net Banking).
  5. Preview and Submit — only one application is valid.
