Bihar's banks got a report card on Friday. IDFC First Bank scored 74 out of 100, the State Bank of India scored 32, and the Development Commissioner said in open session that a credit-deposit ratio below 50% is not acceptable for a major bank. For a BSSC or Bihar Police aspirant, that one meeting in Patna is worth more marks than ten national headlines.

Here are the 20 facts from the last 24 hours that actually turn into questions, each with the exam it matters for. Every figure below is traced to a PIB release, a ministry statement, or a named news report, and the 15-question quiz built from these same facts is live on the platform.

One disaster, one energy forecast, one obituary that doubles as a books-and-authors question.

Bihar-Jharkhand Special

This is the section most national current-affairs feeds skip, and it is exactly where BPSC, BSSC, Bihar Police, JSSC and JPSC papers go hunting. Note one standing fact first: Samrat Choudhary has been Chief Minister of Bihar since 15 April 2026, the state's 24th.

  1. Bihar credit plan: Bihar set an Annual Credit Plan target of ₹4.95 lakh crore for 2026-27, with ₹1,89,343 crore or 38.25% disbursed by the September quarter, in a review chaired by Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh at the Old Secretariat, Patna. Exam tag: BPSC / BSSC / Banking
  2. Bank scorecard and CD ratio: Bihar introduced a 100-point bank ranking index on which IDFC First Bank topped with 74 and SBI sat in the Red Zone with 32, while the state's credit-deposit ratio stood at 60.17% on 30 September. Exam tag: BSSC / Banking / Bihar Police
  3. Gaya manufacturing city: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary launched Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited (BIMCGL) at Bodh Gaya for an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster of about 1,670 acres in Gaya's Dobhi block under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor, alongside ₹4,092 crore of MoUs with 12 industrial units. Exam tag: BPSC / BSSC / Bihar Police

On the Jharkhand side, Palamu's District Level Export Promotion Committee met to link local and farm produce to export markets, and the Meteorological Department expects rain across Ranchi and neighbouring districts from 27 to 29 October because of a Bay of Bengal low-pressure system. (verify) on the Palamu item, since it is carried by local reporting rather than a state press release.

An honest caveat on the Gaya numbers: the roughly ₹16,500 crore investment potential and about 1.1 lakh jobs are government projections, not committed money. Learn them as projections, because that is how the examiner words it too.

Important Days

  1. 24 October: United Nations Day, marking the UN Charter coming into force in 1945, observed alongside the 64th Raising Day of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, raised in 1962, whose personnel the Prime Minister greeted as Himveers. Exam tag: All exams

One last thing before you close this tab

Copy the five numbers from this page onto the inside cover of your notebook, not into a separate current-affairs register you will never reopen. Figures like 60,205 and 1,89,343 are the ones that decide a Banking or BSSC cut-off, and they only survive if you meet them twice more this week.

Then take the 15-question quiz built from exactly these 20 facts. Reading a digest feels like revision; getting four of them wrong in a timed quiz is revision.

One caution for tomorrow: the ISRO NVS-03 date of 30 October and the Swavlamban 2026 dates of 26 and 27 October are scheduled events, so check them again on launch day before you treat them as settled facts.
