Comparison of the Revolts

Comparison of the Tribal Revolts

Jharkhand's revolts are asked most often as a comparison — which leader, which year, which region, which result. This topic puts every major movement from the 1770s to 1920 into one grid so the whole chapter can be revised in minutes.

Order to memorise — Paharia, Tilka, Chuar, Kol, Hool, Kherwar, Sardari, Ulgulan, Tana Bhagat

The master table

Results in one line each

  • Paharia revolt — pacification policy, Hill Rangers, then Damin-i-Koh in 1832

  • Bhumij revolt — Jungle Mahals broken up, Manbhum district created

Mass phaseArmed movement with religious baseUlgulan
National phaseNon-violence within the freedom struggleTana Bhagat

The one grievance behind all of them

  • Every movement in this chapter starts from the same problem — loss of land
  • The vehicle changes: thikadar, mahajan, zamindar, contractor, but the loss is the same
  • The British answer was always administrative, never a redistribution of land
  • That is why revolts kept returning for more than a century
  • The chain ends only with tenancy laws — CNT Act 1908 and SPT Act 1949

इस अध्याय का सूत्र वाक्य याद रखें — हर विद्रोह की जड़ भूमि का छिनना है, और हर ब्रिटिश उत्तर प्रशासनिक है, भूमि लौटाने वाला नहीं।

Memory hook — Kram ka jod — Pa-Ti-Chu-Kol-Hool-Khe-Sar-Ul-Tana. Aur parinaam ka jod — Kol se 1834, Hool se 1855, Ulgulan se 1908. Do line me poora chapter.

Yahan confuse hote hain — Parinaam ka mel sabse zyada galat hota hai.

Santhal Hool ka parinaam CNT Act 1908 tha  |   Hool ka parinaam Santhal Parganas district tha; CNT Act Ulgulan ke baad aaya

Kol Vidroh ka parinaam Manbhum jila tha  |   Kol Vidroh se South West Frontier Agency bani; Manbhum Bhumij vidroh ke baad bana

Exam pointer — JPSC Prelims me is chapter ka sabse aam format matching hai — vidroh, neta aur saal ka mel. JSSC CGL aur JKCE me ek-ek line ka direct question. JPSC Mains me 'janjatiya vidrohon ki prakriti kaise badli' — iska uttar upar wali method table se seedha ban jaata hai. Poore Jharkhand GK me sabse zyada number yahi chapter deta hai.

Ek nazar me

Ab in sabhi vidrohon par mixed questions ExamAtlas mock test me practice karo — Jharkhand GK ke JPSC aur JSSC dono pattern me.
