Current Affairs 1 October 2026: Daily GK and Bihar-Jharkhand News

Shubman Gill hit 223 not out off 133 balls in Guwahati last night and India chased down 406. The same 24 hours gave you a rabi MSP hike, a six-month AFSPA extension starting today, and three compound archery golds at the Asian Games. That is a loaded day for anyone writing SSC, Railway, Banking, BPSC, BSSC or JSSC this season.

Below are 20 exam-tagged facts from the last 24 hours, every figure cross-checked against the Cabinet, RBI, WIPO or match-report source. After the facts you get five quick-revision tables. The matching 15-question quiz built on exactly these facts sits on the ExamAtlas daily quiz page. Nothing here is padding.

National

Four Cabinet and ministry decisions that matter for the GS paper.

  1. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by PM Narendra Modi, approved higher MSP for all six mandated rabi crops for marketing season 2027-28 on 30 September 2026. Exam tag: All exams
  2. Wheat MSP rose by ₹25 to ₹2,610 per quintal; safflower got the biggest jump at ₹675, taking it to ₹7,215 per quintal. Exam tag: SSC / Railway / BPSC
  3. The Union Cabinet cleared an AI-based Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) for Delhi worth about ₹1,790 crore, covering roughly 42 corridors (verify corridor count). Exam tag: SSC / Railway
  4. AFSPA was extended for six months from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 in Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, with 13 police-station areas in Manipur kept outside it. Exam tag: All exams

Learn the MSP numbers as a pair: old price and new price. Examiners love asking the increase, not the level.

International

Two items with a clean one-line answer each.

  1. Japan's Prime Minister asked the UN to delete the "enemy state" clauses from the UN Charter, namely Articles 53, 77 and 107, while China argued they still work as a safeguard. Exam tag: All exams
  2. India backed science-based conservation of cetaceans at the 70th International Whaling Commission meeting (IWC-70) held in Hobart, Australia from 28 September to 2 October 2026. Exam tag: SSC / BPSC / State PSC

Economy & Banking

Banking aspirants, these three are your highest-value facts of the day.

  1. India's net FDI touched a five-year high of USD 7.35 billion in July 2026, a 64% rise year on year, with gross inflows at USD 14.58 billion. Exam tag: Banking / SSC
  2. Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited (SMFCL) launched India's first blue bond on 28 September 2026, a 10-year paper of ₹600 crore with a ₹500 crore green-shoe option, rated AA+. Exam tag: Banking
  3. The RBI's 63rd Monetary Policy Committee meets from 5 to 7 October 2026 under Governor Sanjay Malhotra; the repo rate stands at 5.25% with a neutral stance. Exam tag: Banking / All exams

Remember the blue-bond angle. A blue bond funds ocean and coastal projects, which is why a port-sector lender issued it and not a power utility.

Sports

One record night in Guwahati plus a golden morning in Japan.

  1. Shubman Gill scored 223 not out off 133 balls (26 fours, 8 sixes) at Barsapara Stadium, Guwahati, the highest score by a captain in ODI history. Exam tag: All exams
  2. India chased 406 in 43.3 overs to beat West Indies by 8 wickets, the second-highest successful chase in men's ODI cricket, and took an unassailable 2-0 series lead. Exam tag: All exams
  3. Rohit Sharma made 101 in the same innings and became the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to cross 12,000 ODI runs. Exam tag: All exams
  4. India swept all three compound archery golds at the Asian Games 2026, and the women's team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep equalled the world record while beating China 238-234. Exam tag: All exams

Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai also won trap mixed team shooting gold, which pushed India to 10 golds and 60 medals and eighth place on the table on 30 September. The women's hockey team beat South Korea in the semi-final and will play China in the final.

Awards

  1. Singapore Airlines was named World's Best Airline at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2026; Air India ranked 57th after climbing 27 places, and IndiGo at 61st took Best Low-Cost Airline in India and South Asia. Exam tag: All exams
  2. India finished 10th at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 with 6 silver medals from its largest ever squad of 70 competitors, and Smriti Nambiar won silver in Bakery plus Best of Nation. Exam tag: SSC / Railway

Science & Defence

  1. KAZIND-2026, the 9th India-Kazakhstan joint military exercise, is running at Oskemen, Kazakhstan from 28 September to 11 October 2026, with a 60-member Indian contingent led by a Garhwal Rifles battalion. Exam tag: All exams
  2. HAL signed an MoU worth ₹2,491 crore with SkyPulse Solutions IFSC for 30 helicopters, with induction beginning in FY 2027-28 for air ambulance, disaster response and UDAN use. Exam tag: SSC / Railway / Banking

Also worth a line: Hyderabad-based TakeMe2Space plans India's first orbital data centre, two 100 kg satellites carrying 10 NVIDIA Thor GPUs each, on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rideshare in late 2028.

Bihar-Jharkhand Special

This is the section BPSC, BSSC, Bihar Police, JSSC, JPSC and BTET/JTET candidates should copy into their notebook.

  1. The BPSC 72nd CCE Prelims has been rescheduled to 25 October 2026 for 1,186 posts, per the commission's notice dated 17 September 2026; the paper stays offline and OMR-based. Exam tag: BPSC
  2. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, the state's first BJP Chief Minister, launched the Seva Sankalp evam Kayakalp Abhiyan with a Kayakalp portal and app tracking works across nine departments; phase one ends 30 November 2026 and phase two on 31 March 2027. Exam tag: BPSC / BSSC / Bihar Police / BTET
  3. In Jharkhand, the Hemant Soren cabinet cancelled the JSSC CGL examination conducted through the agency TDPL and ordered a probe, and a large batch of JPSC and JSSC recruitment exams was scrapped or deferred, reported as 39 cancelled and 6 postponed (verify final count). Exam tag: JSSC / JPSC / JTET

Honest caveat on the Jharkhand item. The cancellation count differs across outlets, some say 44 exams, so treat 39 plus 6 as indicative and wait for the JSSC notice before quoting it in an interview.

Important Days

Today, 1 October 2026, is the 36th International Day of Older Persons, and the UN theme this year is "The Age of Longevity: Rethinking Systems for Longer Lives". The same date is World Vegetarian Day and International Coffee Day. Tomorrow brings Gandhi Jayanti and the International Day of Non-Violence.

What to Do With This Page

Do not just read it. Write the five numbers that are easiest to confuse into one line of your register: 2,610 and 25 for wheat, 7,215 and 675 for safflower, 5.25% for repo, 38 for the GII rank, and 406 for the chase. Those five lines are what an SSC or Banking paper will actually test.

Once the register is written, attempt the 15-question quiz on these same facts. Scoring 11 or more there means your recall is holding up; anything below 8 means you read this page instead of revising it.

One warning for Jharkhand candidates. The JSSC and JPSC exam-cancellation story is still moving, so check the commission's own notice before you treat any count as final. Everything else on this page is traceable to a Cabinet release, an RBI number, a WIPO report or a match scorecard.
